Alfa Laval’s new filter with Atrium 2.0 technology help its customers achieve their sustainability goals

(PRESS RELEASE) LUND, 30-Nov-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling, has announced the launch of its new Moatti 180 filters that feature the Atrium 2.0 technology that deliver high efficiency fine filtration for lubrication oil, fuel oil, and hydraulic control oil, with virtually no pressure drop. The new filters will extend the life of both the oil and the equipment, while eliminating the need to change cartridges. This solution is optimized to keep the engines that use Moatti filters running perfectly between planned maintenance, and provide OEMs, service companies or users with a simple and profitable service solution.

“While many companies have made significant progress toward achieving their environmental goals, true sustainability in heavy industry can be difficult to achieve,” says Henrik Bjerstedt, Managing Director of Alfa Laval Moatti. “With the launch of this new filter, Alfa Laval is helping more of our customers achieve their sustainability goals. These filters help reduce hazardous waste, while improving the efficiency and functioning of equipment in critical processes.”

“Moatti 180 filters are self-cleaning, designed to keep engines in even the most demanding applications running smoothly, minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime,” continues Henrik. “In addition to getting rid of a vast waste stream, they also eliminate hours of dangerous and unnecessary maintenance work, potentially helping entire industries in their efforts to become more sustainable.”

“Used cartridges can contain heavy metals and other carcinogenic compounds. Keeping them out of landfills is a huge benefit. And eliminating the need to change them contributes enormously to productivity and worker safety,” adds Maxime De Cazotte, Product Manager at Alfa Laval Moatti. “There are many types of automatic filters on the market, but the Alfa Laval Moatti 180 really stands out.”

Alfa Laval Moatti 180 filters are available in several configurations. For most four-stroke engines, they can be used to filter fuel oil and lube oil, and for two-stroke engines, they can be used to filter fuel oil and hydraulic control oil.

“Moatti filters can be combined with pressure-driven centrifuges,” Henrik notes, “for truly unparalleled performance.”

Created with circularity in mind

More than just the self-cleaning filter unit itself sets the Alfa Laval Moatti 180 apart. With its unique Alfa Laval Moatti ReMan service concept, which was created with circularity in mind, Alfa Laval assumes full responsibility for the care, maintenance, and flawless functioning of Moatti filters throughout the lifetimes of the engines where they are installed.

The process is simple: during regularly scheduled engine maintenance, Alfa Laval replaces the old filter with a fully warranted remanufactured filter, certified by Alfa Laval, that meets all specifications. The old filter will then be entirely remanufactured at one of Alfa Laval’s service facilities. Once it meets Alfa Laval’s stringent OEM standards, the filter will be ready for the next exchange.

Lifetime support and smart service – that’s exactly what you expect from Alfa Laval.

Automatic Filters

Alfa Laval’s automatic filter solutions for fuel oil, lubricating oil and hydraulic control oil combine high performance with robust and compact design. Their disc-type filter elements are cleaned through continuous backflushing, which prevents the accumulation of retained solids and minimizes maintenance needs. Sludge can be removed either by means of a diversion chamber or by a centrifuge on the backflush line.
