Snam Launches Fourth Edition of HyAccelerator, Expanding Focus to Net Zero Technologies

(IN BRIEF) Snam has launched the fourth edition of its HyAccelerator program, focused on clean-tech innovation in the energy sector. The new “Net Zero Revolution” initiative aims to help startups and SMEs with technologies aligned with Snam’s strategic goals for achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This year’s edition expands its scope to include startups working on Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCS) and Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) in addition to hydrogen. The program will select five finalists who will receive mentorship, technical support, and financial backing, with one finalist getting the opportunity to scale their hydrogen technologies through the European H2SHIFT project.

(PRESS RELEASE) MILAN, 14-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Snam has officially launched the fourth edition of its HyAccelerator program, a global initiative aimed at fostering clean-tech innovation by supporting startups and SMEs in the energy sector. This year’s edition, themed “Net Zero Revolution,” builds on the success of previous iterations that attracted over 100 applicants globally and resulted in 11 winning startups embarking on tailored acceleration journeys.

The program, designed to help entrepreneurs bring breakthrough technologies to market, opens its Call4Startup on February 13th, 2025, with applications accepted until March 18th, 2025. The new theme reflects Snam’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and its goal of building a multi-molecule infrastructure across Europe as outlined in the company’s 2025-2029 strategic plan.

Expanding beyond hydrogen, the 2025 HyAccelerator edition now includes startups focusing on Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCS) and Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES). This evolution also fosters greater collaboration with Snam’s affiliates and industrial partners, further driving innovation in the clean energy sector.

A notable addition this year is the partnership with the European project H2SHIFT, which provides a unique opportunity for one of the finalists to test and scale their hydrogen production technologies in an industrial environment. Following a selection process, five startups will be chosen to undergo the six-month acceleration journey. The first two months will be dedicated to the Discovery phase, where startups will refine their business models and technology. Two winners will then proceed to the Validation phase, during which they will develop a pre-feasibility study for a real-world application.

Throughout this journey, the selected entrepreneurs will benefit from professional mentorship, technical expertise, and financial or in-kind support from Snam’s partners and the HyAccelerator team, accelerating the development of clean-tech solutions in line with the global shift toward sustainability.
