Tech4Planet aims to facilitate market access and foster the growth of new enterprises focused on environmental sustainability projects originating from research laboratories.

Tech4Planet focuses on investing in scientific research projects developed at universities, with a specific emphasis on energytech, circular economy, sustainable manufacturing, smart mobility, and water management sectors. The hub collaborates with leading energy industry players and benefits from the expertise of polytechnic universities in Milan, Turin, and Bari as Scientific Promoters. The initiative also seeks to identify projects with high market potential and acts as a catalyst for the regions of Southern Italy.

We are honoured to become a corporate partner of CDP Venture Capital with our entry into Tech4Planet and we consider Snam’s participation in this network to be strategic for the promotion, support and acceleration of innovation in the green technologies space. We also believe we can bring great added value through active membership in the partnership, providing access to innovations that we are developing internally within the company and which could translate into scale-ups or future collaborative opportunities” remarked Pere Margalef Valldeperez, SVP Decarbonization Technology Solutions.

Snam’s collaboration with Tech4Planet will concentrate on energytech projects, providing support to innovative startups developing solutions or services for energy sustainability. Eligible startups will undergo the Tech Incubation phase and participate in PoCs (Proofs of Concept – prototyping) and Business Creation, with Snam analyzing their business plans and models.

Additionally, Snam will gain insight into new investment opportunities assessed by CDP Venture Capital through Tech4Planet and have the option to co-invest in selected startups.

To actively participate in this partnership, Snam has appointed its own expert to Tech4Planet’s Scientific Advisory Committee.

This collaboration will enhance Snam’s visibility on investment opportunities monitored by the fund, with potential future engagement through the HyAccelerator programme and other technological development activities of Snam’s R&D team. Snam can also propose investment opportunities to the fund, ensuring follow-up on technological development activities and new business ventures.

In recent years, Snam has initiated several research, development, and innovation projects in the decarbonization sector, focusing on hydrogen value chain and CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage).

The Tech4Planet National Technology Transfer Hub is part of the Technology Transfer Fund strategy of CDP Venture Capital, which invests in the entire technology transfer chain, establishing National Hubs that collaborate with leading universities and research centers. The goal is to identify and finance the best deep tech technologies.

Currently, five National Technology Transfer Hubs operate nationwide, each focused on specific markets, including Robotics and Industrial Automation, Biopharmaceuticals, Aerospace, Agrifood Tech, and Environmental Sustainability.

Snam’s involvement in this initiative underscores its commitment to innovation projects driving new technologies and businesses in the field of environmental sustainability.
