Polish Navy Commences Construction of Advanced Signals Intelligence Ships with Saab and Remontowa Partnership

(IN BRIEF) The keel laying ceremony for the first of two new Polish signals intelligence (SIGINT) ships was held at Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Gdansk, Poland. Saab was awarded the contract to design and produce the SIGINT ships for the Polish Navy, with Remontowa Shipbuilding SA subcontracted for construction. The ships will be equipped with advanced mission systems to support intelligence data acquisition at sea. The steel cutting for the first ship began on April 27, 2023.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 28-Jul-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Saab was awarded the contract for designing and producing two signal intelligence ships, including the integration of advanced mission systems, for the Polish Navy on November 25, 2022. Remontowa Shipbuilding SA was subcontracted to build the ships in Poland.

A SIGINT ship is used to support the acquisition of intelligence data across the full spectrum of naval intelligence capabilities.

The steel cutting for the first ship took place on April 27, 2023.
