JYSK to Enter Cyprus in 2027 with Initial Store Openings and Plans for Wider Market Growth

(IN BRIEF) JYSK plans to open its first stores in Cyprus in the spring of 2027, marking the Danish family-owned home furnishing chain’s entry into a new Mediterranean market. The company expects to launch with two to four stores initially and aims to grow to ten stores in the Republic of Cyprus over the following years. The Cypriot market will be managed as part of JYSK Greece, which already operates close to 70 stores and has an established organisation to support the expansion. JYSK expects the move to create up to 80 local jobs, and recruitment for the first District Manager role has already drawn strong interest. The Cyprus launch will follow JYSK’s 2025 entry into Morocco and will bring the company’s international presence to 50 countries, including 30 markets with company-owned stores and 20 operated through franchise partners.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRABRAND, 17-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — JYSK is preparing to enter Cyprus, with the Danish family-owned home furnishing chain planning to open its first stores in the country in the spring of 2027.

The expansion marks another step in JYSK’s international growth journey, which began in 1979 when Danish entrepreneur Lars Larsen opened the company’s first store. Since then, JYSK has developed into a major home furnishing retailer with a growing presence across Europe and beyond.

In Cyprus, JYSK expects to open between two and four stores in the first phase. Over the longer term, the company plans to expand to a total of ten stores in the Republic of Cyprus within the next few years. The Cypriot operations will be organised under JYSK Greece, which already manages a well-established store network and will support the new market entry.

Rami Jensen, President and CEO of JYSK, said expansion is part of the company’s identity and that JYSK continues to look for new growth opportunities. He said the company believes its Scandinavian home furnishing offer will appeal to customers in Cyprus, as it has in other European markets.

The move is also expected to create up to 80 local jobs in Cyprus. Recruitment has already started for the first District Manager role, which has attracted almost 100 applicants so far.

Jensen said the early interest in working for JYSK in Cyprus is encouraging. He added that Cyprus offers attractive growth opportunities and can be developed through the company’s Greek organisation, where JYSK already operates close to 70 stores and has a strong local structure in place to welcome new colleagues.

The planned Cyprus launch follows JYSK’s most recent country opening in Morocco, where two stores began operating in April 2025. Once the first stores open in Cyprus, JYSK will be present in 50 countries. Thirty of these markets will be operated through JYSK’s own stores, while the remaining 20 are run by local franchise partners.

Through the expansion, JYSK aims to bring its Scandinavian home furnishing concept to a new Mediterranean market while strengthening its retail presence in Southern Europe.
