JYSK Brings 475 Supplier and Trading Partner Representatives Together in Shanghai to Advance Climate Goals

The room was full as Søren Lip ter Beek, Compliance Manager at JYSK, welcomed the 450 guests in attendance.

(IN BRIEF) JYSK has hosted its first major supplier event in Asia, gathering 475 participants from suppliers and international traders in Shanghai to focus on sustainability, compliance and shared climate goals. The event is part of JYSK’s wider effort to strengthen collaboration across its value chain, particularly as most of the company’s CO₂e emissions come from the production of goods. JYSK is using the event to present factory-level reduction initiatives, data-sharing expectations and its SBTi-approved climate targets. The company has committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 CO₂e emissions by 50.4% by 2032 compared with 2022, and to ensuring that 72.5% of suppliers, based on emissions, have SBTi-approved targets by the end of the 2028 financial year. Supplier engagement is especially important because scope 3 emissions represent 98.15% of JYSK’s total emissions. The event also covers JYSK’s work with social and environmental audits through amfori, aimed at improving worker conditions and reducing factories’ environmental impact. By bringing suppliers and sub-suppliers together in Shanghai, JYSK is reinforcing the importance of joint action, clearer data and closer cooperation to advance sustainability across its global supply chain.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRABRAND, 4-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — JYSK has held its first major supplier event in Asia, bringing together 475 participants from suppliers and international trading partners in Shanghai to strengthen cooperation on sustainability, compliance and shared climate ambitions.

The JYSK Supplier Event, which opened on Tuesday, June 2, marks a significant step in the home furnishing retailer’s efforts to build closer alignment with its supplier base. The event focuses on strategy, common expectations and practical initiatives that can help reduce environmental impact across JYSK’s value chain.

A key priority for the event is to deepen collaboration with suppliers and sub-suppliers, particularly as JYSK works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to the production of goods. The company’s climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and supplier engagement is central to achieving progress, especially within scope 3 emissions.

Søren Lip ter Beek, Compliance Manager at JYSK and responsible for the supplier event, said the company’s responsibility extends beyond its own operations and includes its supplier network. He noted that reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain requires close cooperation, knowledge sharing and shared commitment from suppliers and sub-suppliers.

During the event, JYSK is presenting potential reduction measures that can be applied at factory level, as well as expectations for data sharing and climate-related reporting. The company is also outlining its SBTi-approved targets and the role suppliers will play in helping reduce CO₂e emissions connected to purchased goods, products and services.

Supplier action is particularly important because the vast majority of JYSK’s climate footprint comes from scope 3 emissions. JYSK reports that scope 1 and 2 emissions account for 1.85% of its total emissions, while scope 3 accounts for 98.15%. As a result, improvements in manufacturing, sourcing and supplier-level energy use are essential to the company’s wider climate strategy.

JYSK has committed to ensuring that at least 72.5% of its suppliers, measured by emissions, calculate their own emissions and have SBTi-approved climate targets by the end of the 2028 financial year. The company has also committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 CO₂e emissions by 50.4% by 2032, compared with a 2022 baseline year.

The Shanghai event also highlights JYSK’s work with social and environmental audits through amfori. These audits are used to support continuous improvement in areas such as worker conditions, factory standards and environmental performance. JYSK says minimum expectations are being tightened over time to help improve compliance and reduce environmental impact across supplier operations.

Søren Lip ter Beek said the event is intended to create a stronger shared understanding of JYSK’s strategic direction across social responsibility, environmental impact and compliance. He added that hosting the company’s first supplier event of this kind in Asia underlines the importance of JYSK’s cooperation with Chinese suppliers and sub-suppliers.

JYSK continues to develop the initiatives presented to suppliers, with the aim of reducing emissions from products at factory level and supporting more sustainable production practices across its value chain.
