JYSK Advances Climate Strategy as Majority of Suppliers Commit to Science Based Targets

(IN BRIEF) JYSK has engaged all of its suppliers in setting science-based climate targets, with suppliers representing 94% of emissions committing to establish SBTi-approved reduction targets by FY28. The retailer’s supplier engagement target, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, focuses on reducing emissions from purchased goods and services, the largest contributor to its carbon footprint. Alongside supplier progress, JYSK is advancing its own emissions reductions, reporting lower scope 1 and 2 emissions despite significant store expansion. The company says the combined efforts demonstrate steady progress toward reducing climate impact while continuing to grow its global retail operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRABRAND, Denmark, 15-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — JYSK has reached a significant milestone in its climate strategy by engaging its entire supplier base in the process of setting science-based climate targets, with suppliers representing 94% of the company’s emissions now committed to establishing SBTi-approved reduction targets by the end of FY28. The progress reflects JYSK’s focused efforts to address emissions across its value chain, where purchased goods and services account for the largest share of its greenhouse gas footprint.

As part of its supplier engagement target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, JYSK has committed to ensuring that by the close of the 2027/28 financial year, at least 72.5% of suppliers measured by emissions within purchased goods and services will have science-based targets in place. By the end of FY25, the company had already surpassed this threshold in terms of supplier commitments, with nearly all key suppliers pledging to submit SBTi-aligned targets within the agreed timeframe. At present, 44% of JYSK’s suppliers, measured by emissions, either have validated science-based targets or have formally committed to SBTi.

JYSK continues to work closely with suppliers to maintain momentum and ensure progress translates into approved targets. The company actively tracks supplier developments and supports capacity building through workshops, tailored guidance and collaboration with external consultants, helping suppliers move from initial assessments through to submission and final validation. Only a limited number of suppliers are still assessing the SBTi framework, while JYSK remains open to exploring future collaboration opportunities with those not yet ready to participate.

If all submitted targets receive approval, JYSK expects to meet its scope 3 supplier engagement target by the end of FY28, reinforcing its long-term commitment to emissions reductions across its value chain. In parallel, JYSK has also set clear goals for its own operations, committing to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.4% by FY32.

Progress to date shows early results. By FY25, JYSK had reduced scope 1 and 2 emissions by 1.2% compared with FY22, despite expanding its store network by more than 300 locations during the same period. Store operations remain the primary source of emissions within these scopes, and emissions per store were reduced by 9% over the same timeframe. The company views this as an encouraging step toward decoupling business growth from operational emissions as it continues to expand internationally.
