Ingka Group Announces Updated Leadership Framework to Support an Accessible, Affordable and Sustainable Future for IKEA

(IN BRIEF) Ingka Group is restructuring its leadership beginning 1 January 2026 to reinforce its focus on the core IKEA Retail business and strengthen its omnichannel strategy. The new Group Management model supports the company’s long-term goals of improving accessibility, affordability, and sustainability. CEO Juvencio Maeztu, who assumed the role in November 2025, will lead a team of seven executives taking on revised or newly appointed positions across finance, commercial operations, digital development, transformation, and sustainability. The organizational changes are intended to enhance Ingka Group’s resilience in a rapidly changing retail environment while maintaining IKEA stores at the heart of its business model. Ingka Centres and Ingka Investments will remain integral parts of the group’s overall operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEIDEN, 2-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Ingka Group has announced a major shift in its organizational setup as the company sharpens its long-term focus on the IKEA core business. Beginning 1 January 2026, the company will implement a new Group Management structure designed to support IKEA’s ambition to remain increasingly accessible, affordable, and sustainable for people and communities well into the future.

In recent years, Ingka Group has undergone a significant evolution, transitioning into a modern omnichannel retailer shaped around the everyday needs and aspirations of life at home. As the business moves into its next chapter—preparing IKEA Retail for the generations ahead—it is introducing a refreshed leadership framework and a series of new appointments within Group Management.

The new Group Management team will include seven key roles in addition to CEO Juvencio Maeztu, who stepped into the role in November 2025 after more than 25 years of experience within the IKEA world. The updated leadership lineup effective 1 January 2026 will consist of:

  • Deputy CEO and CFO — Cindy Andersen, currently Managing Director of Ingka Centres
  • Commercial Manager — Javier Quiñones, currently Country Retail & CSO Manager for IKEA US
  • Development and Transformation Manager — Emily Birkin, currently Country Retail & CSO Manager for IKEA Sweden
  • Digital Manager — Parag Parekh, who continues in the position
  • People, Sustainability and Communication Manager — Ulrika Biesért, currently People & Culture Manager, Ingka Group

Additionally, Kurt-Jörgen Olsson will serve as General Counsel & Legal, supported by Melisa Connors as Management Assistant.

Reflecting on the shift, CEO Juvencio Maeztu highlighted the importance of remaining close to everyday reality while staying true to the purpose originally established by founder Ingvar Kamprad. Maeztu emphasized that this reorganization supports future growth by enabling the company to reinforce its priorities—especially affordability and sustainability—both essential for long-term business health and for the well-being of customers and the planet.

With this new direction, Ingka Group is doubling down on IKEA Retail as the centerpiece of its business. The company aims to operate even more efficiently as an omnichannel retailer, with IKEA stores continuing to serve as the backbone of its model. Alongside its core retail operations, the group will continue to run Ingka Centres and Ingka Investments as part of its broader strategic portfolio.
