ABL Wins Marine Warranty Survey Contract for UK NZT Power Carbon Capture Project

(IN BRIEF) ABL has been awarded a contract by Technip Energies to support the UK’s NZT Power carbon capture project through marine warranty survey services. NZT Power is planned as a first-of-its-kind gas-fired power station with carbon capture technology, designed to generate up to 742 MW of flexible low-carbon power, enough for more than one million UK homes. The project is expected to capture up to two million tonnes of CO₂ annually, with the carbon dioxide transported and stored through the Northern Endurance Partnership infrastructure. ABL’s work will include technical review and approval of project documentation, vessel suitability surveys, engineering documentation review and on-site attendance for warranted operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 10-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ABL, the energy and marine consultancy, has been awarded a contract to support the NZT Power project in the United Kingdom, a flagship low-carbon energy development planned as the world’s first gas-fired power station equipped with carbon capture technology.

The project is designed to generate up to 742 MW of flexible, dispatchable low-carbon power, equivalent to the annual electricity needs of more than one million UK homes.

NZT Power is expected to capture up to two million tonnes of CO₂ per year.

The captured CO₂ will then be transported and stored through infrastructure developed by the Northern Endurance Partnership, known as NEP, the UK’s first carbon dioxide transportation and storage infrastructure project.

Technip Energies has appointed ABL to provide marine warranty survey services for the transportation operations of critical facilities linked to the project.

These facilities include large-scale CO₂ absorber modules and pre-assembled units.

ABL’s scope also covers the shipment of critical items and equipment to fabrication yards.

Under the contract, ABL will carry out technical review and approval of project documentation, procedures and calculations.

The company will also deliver suitability surveys for the proposed vessel fleet.

Its responsibilities include reviewing and approving engineering documentation for transportation operations and attending site to review and approve warranted operations.
