Skanska selected to construct and develop 13-acre high school campus in Burien, Washington, USA

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 28-Aug-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska signed USD 113.5 M (about SEK 1.1 billion) worth contract to build a replacement high school for Highline Public Schools in Burien, Washington, USA. The contract will be included in the US order bookings for the third quarter 2019.

The existing high school will be demolished and a new 22,000 square-meter replacement school will be built on the 13-acre site. Included in the contract are general and specialty classrooms, a theater and black box drama classroom, career and technical education spaces, science classrooms, multiple gyms, and tennis courts that will serve up to 1,500 students. Improvements to the site also include courtyards and recreational areas, new student pick-up and drop-off areas, bus loading and unloading, parking for staff, visitors and events, and off-site improvements to adjacent city streets.

Construction is being carried out and the project is planned to be completed in June 2021.
