Continental Launches Versatile Dubnital 50mm Tire Bridging Performance Between Gravel and Mountain Biking

As gravel courses become faster, rougher and more technical, the Dubnital 50mm is becoming a go-to option for riders.

(IN BRIEF) Continental has introduced a new 50mm version of its Dubnital gravel tire, expanding its range to better serve riders tackling more technical and demanding courses. Designed to balance speed, grip, and durability, the tire features a fast-rolling tread and enhanced cornering stability for mixed off-road conditions. Built with Tubeless Ready and hookless-compatible technology, it integrates seamlessly with modern wheel systems. The new size offers improved rolling efficiency compared to wider options while maintaining strong performance, making it suitable for both competitive racing and versatile gravel riding.

(PRESS RELEASE) HANOVER, 16-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Continental has expanded its gravel tire portfolio with the introduction of a new 50mm version of its Dubnital tire, designed to meet the increasing demands of more technical and aggressive gravel riding.

Originally developed for high-speed cross-country racing, the Dubnital has established itself as a performance-focused tire that combines speed with reliable control. Previously available in a wider 55mm format, the addition of the 50mm option provides riders with a narrower alternative that enhances rolling efficiency while maintaining the grip needed for challenging terrain.

The new tire is engineered to perform across a variety of off-road conditions, including rocky paths, hardpack surfaces, and mixed terrain. Its tread design features a fast-rolling center section that supports speed on straight sections, complemented by pronounced shoulder knobs that improve braking traction and stability when cornering on rough or unpredictable surfaces.

The Dubnital 50mm features a tread pattern optimized for dry to damp conditions across rocky, hardpack and medium-loose soils.

Designed for modern gravel racing, the Dubnital 50mm reflects the evolving nature of the discipline, where courses are becoming faster, more technical, and increasingly demanding. The tire aims to deliver a balanced combination of speed, durability, and control, allowing riders to confidently tackle diverse conditions.

The product incorporates Continental’s latest Tubeless Ready construction and is compatible with hookless rims, ensuring seamless integration with contemporary wheel systems. These features support improved performance, reliability, and ease of use for riders adopting modern setups.

Rosa Klöser, winner of the 2024 Life Time UNBOUND Gravel 200 and a Continental Tires ambassador, highlighted the tire’s versatility and performance, noting its strong grip and braking control, particularly in corners. She emphasized that the 50mm size offers an ideal balance for riders seeking comfort, durability, and speed across a wide range of gravel conditions.

Alexander Haenke, MTB and Gravel Product Manager at Continental Tires, described the new size as bridging the gap between mountain biking and gravel riding. He pointed out that the 50mm format is particularly suited to technically demanding races such as Traka, The Rift, and Badlands, offering a combination of low rolling resistance, high puncture protection, and reduced weight.

The Dubnital 50mm is available in different configurations to suit varying rider needs, including Race casing for maximum speed and efficiency, and Trail casing for enhanced durability and control. Both versions utilize the Rapid compound to optimize performance.

With this launch, Continental continues to adapt its product range to the changing landscape of off-road cycling, providing riders with equipment that supports both performance and versatility across increasingly complex gravel courses.
