(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 9-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Orange Maroc has advanced its digital ambitions by entering a new strategic partnership with Ericsson to modernize and expand its core network, laying the groundwork for 5G Standalone deployment. This collaboration reinforces Orange Maroc’s commitment to delivering high-quality connectivity and aligns directly with Morocco’s national digital roadmap, “Digital Morocco 2030.”

Through this agreement, Orange Maroc will implement Ericsson’s state-of-the-art dual-mode 5G Core and Cloud Native Infrastructure Solution. These technologies are designed to handle cloud-native applications, dramatically enhancing network performance, scalability, and readiness for the 5G era. This modernization effort will significantly increase network capacity and provide customers with a seamless, future-ready experience.

The initiative also includes deployment of the Ericsson Cloud Core Policy Controller, enabling advanced scalability and resilience while unlocking opportunities for new commercial models. Orange Maroc will further extend its infrastructure with new IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Packet Core sites, enhancing Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services and enabling reliable delivery of next-generation services including enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), online gaming, and industrial connectivity.

Additional upgrades will target network automation and orchestration, with improvements to Ericsson’s Network Manager, Orchestrator, and Network IQ Statistics tools—already used by Orange Maroc for network monitoring. These enhancements will support greater efficiency and smarter operations within the cloud-native environment.

Hendrik Kasteel, CEO of Orange Maroc, commented, “Innovation and customer experience are at the heart of our mission. Partnering with Ericsson enables us to build a stronger, more reliable network that supports the growing digital needs of Moroccan citizens. Our efforts directly contribute to achieving the goals of the national strategy ‘Digital Morocco 2030’ by accelerating the deployment of 5G and enhancing digital inclusion.”

Majda Lahlou Kassi, President of Ericsson Morocco and Vice President of Ericsson West and Southern Africa, added, “Our partnership with Orange Maroc is a significant milestone in delivering a future-proof infrastructure that supports evolving connectivity demands. This project illustrates our commitment to adding long-term value for our partners while advancing Morocco’s digital transformation.”

This agreement builds on more than two decades of collaboration between Orange Maroc and Ericsson. By investing in advanced technologies and anticipating the needs of tomorrow, Orange Maroc is reinforcing its role as a key enabler of Morocco’s economic and digital progress.
