Ericsson deepens industry ecosystem for network APIs with minority investment and strategic partnership with LotusFlare

(IN BRIEF) Ericsson has formed a strategic partnership with LotusFlare and taken a minority stake in the company to support global CSPs in commercializing network capabilities through APIs. LotusFlare’s DNO Cloud platform provides consent management, digital commerce, and other components needed to build a Network API Exposure Layer, which complements Ericsson’s broader API monetization portfolio. Together, the two companies will produce solution blueprints that outline common integration scenarios, helping operators roll out API-based services more quickly. Ericsson’s Niklas Heuveldop and LotusFlare CEO Sam Gadodia emphasized that the partnership expands the ecosystem needed to drive API innovation, combining Ericsson’s programmable networks with LotusFlare’s abstraction technology and Vonage’s enterprise solutions. The parties have not disclosed financial terms.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 3-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), has unveiled a new collaboration with LotusFlare as it continues expanding the ecosystem that allows Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to unlock new business value from network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). As part of the agreement, Ericsson has also taken a minority ownership position in LotusFlare, strengthening its long-term commitment to accelerating API-driven innovation across the telecom industry.

LotusFlare, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, employs around 500 people globally and is known for providing cloud-native digital commerce and customer experience solutions to telecom operators and enterprises. Its DNO Cloud platform offers key digital enablement components—including consent management workflows and commerce capabilities—that act as a functional foundation for a Network API Exposure Layer. This layer serves as a bridge that allows CSPs to package and present advanced network features through APIs in ways that support revenue generation and service differentiation.

By joining forces, Ericsson and LotusFlare will produce a series of jointly developed “solution blueprints” to help operators understand and deploy common integration models for the Network API Exposure Layer. These blueprints will outline scenarios ranging from developer access to network capabilities to how user consent and permissions can be embedded within API-driven services. The companies intend to bring these standardised patterns to market to shorten deployment times and help CSPs scale new monetization approaches faster.

Niklas Heuveldop, Senior Vice President, Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform, and CEO of Vonage, highlighted the broad industry implications of the partnership. He noted that combining Ericsson’s programmable network infrastructure with LotusFlare’s abstraction capabilities, Aduna’s aggregation layer, and Vonage’s enterprise-facing API services creates a far stronger end-to-end value chain. According to Heuveldop, this expanded ecosystem will enable CSPs, developers, and enterprises to build services that exploit the full potential of 5G and AI at global scale.

LotusFlare Co-Founder and CEO Sam Gadodia said that welcoming Ericsson as an investor affirms the company’s trajectory in simplifying digital operations and customer journeys. He added that continued development of the DNO Cloud platform and the Nomad eSIM offering has positioned LotusFlare to bring new monetization models to operators worldwide, and that the partnership will accelerate that mission.

Vonage, an Ericsson company, will play an important role in the next phase by helping developers and enterprises consume these APIs and convert advanced network behaviours into commercially valuable services.

Both parties agreed that the financial details of Ericsson’s minority investment will remain confidential.
