Omdia Report Highlights Nokia’s Strength in 5G Core, Core SaaS and Network Automation

(IN BRIEF) Nokia has been ranked No. 1 for mobile core portfolio competitiveness for the second consecutive year in Omdia’s “Market Landscape: Core Vendors” 2026 report, which named the company a leader across all seven competitiveness categories: core portfolio breadth, cloud-native maturity, signaling, automation, core as a service, AI/ML and analytics, and other network function implementations. The 2026 edition of the report named Nokia a leader across all seven competitiveness categories assessed by Omdia.

These categories include core portfolio breadth, cloud-native maturity, signaling, automation, core as a service, AI/ML and analytics, and implementations of other network functions.

Nokia said the recognition reflects its continued investment in mobile core technologies designed to help operators modernize their networks for the AI era.

The company’s recent deployments include the world’s first commercial mobile telecom service based on 5G Core SaaS, as well as Core SaaS Edge, which enables local breakout for roaming subscribers.

Nokia also pointed to work in core network resilience, telecom core modernization and mission-critical network upgrades supporting sectors such as the Internet of Things, rail and utilities.

Omdia’s 2026 report expanded its assessment to 12 vendors.

The report also updated its category weightings to reflect changing operator priorities, including greater emphasis on AI/ML and analytics capabilities.

The portfolio is designed to help operators simplify core network operations through automation, AI-driven analytics, resilient architectures and network exposure capabilities.
