(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 7-Jun-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a multilateral developmental investment bank, and the Tunisian Investment Authority (TIA) have collaborated to launch a digital national investment platform in Tunisia. This initiative aims to enhance the investment ecosystem in the country.

Supported by the EBRD, the existing investor platform will undergo digital transformation to become a comprehensive, automated, and user-friendly one-stop shop. The platform will offer digital services that streamline the investor experience, attract foreign direct investment, and generate employment opportunities. Services will cover the entire investor journey, from investment declaration to authorization and aftercare.

In partnership with the TIA and Tunisia’s Ministry of Economy, the EBRD has introduced an interactive digital guide for investors. This guide will facilitate access to vital information, opportunities, and incentives for business investors.

To support improvements in Tunisia’s business climate, the EBRD has provided technical assistance to the Strategic National Investment Council, hosted by the TIA. The council focuses on enhancing public-private dialogue and proposing policies and reforms to promote private sector development. Many recommendations put forth by the council have already been approved by the Tunisian Government, including investor-friendly reforms to the authorizations regime and a convergence roadmap to unify the investment ecosystem.

The launch of the digital platform was attended by EBRD First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink and TIA Chief Executive Officer Namia Ayedi.

At the ceremony, Jürgen Rigterink said:  “We are very proud of our continued partnership with the Tunisian Investment Authority and our joint endeavours to strengthen the business ecosystem and improve investors’ experience through this new one-stop platform. We hope the digital tool will provide useful guidance to investors and accelerate additional direct business investment in Tunisia.”

Namia Ayadi, said “I’m very glad to announce a project that enables investors to benefit from a digital one-stop-shop for all investments services. The EBRD partnership offers a very important opportunity for us to expand what has been done in improving the investment climate in Tunisia and we hope this will be one of many joint actions in support of attracting new foreign direct investments in the country.

Since the establishment of the EBRD Digital Hub in 2022, the bank has made 36 new investments and engaged in 50 policy initiatives centered around digitization. Additionally, the EBRD has provided local business advice to 851 small and medium-sized enterprises to support their digital transformation.

Since commencing operations in Tunisia in 2012, the EBRD has invested over €1.9 billion in 62 projects across various sectors, both public and private.
