Vestas Secures Major Wind Turbine Supply Agreement with Tessa Green Energy for Strazhitsa Project in Bulgaria

Vestas Secures Major Wind Turbine Supply Agreement with Tessa Green Energy for Strazhitsa Project in Bulgaria

(IN BRIEF) Vestas has been awarded a 70 MW contract by Tessa Green Energy to supply and service 11 EnVentus V162-6.4 MW wind turbines for the Strazhitsa wind project in Bulgaria. The agreement includes a long-term Active Output Management service contract, ensuring efficient turbine performance over time. The project represents a key development for Bulgaria’s wind energy sector, which has recently regained momentum and contributed to the country becoming a net exporter of electricity in early 2026. Both companies view the collaboration as strategically important, with Vestas aiming to support renewed market growth and Tessa Green Energy seeking to strengthen its regional position through partnerships with global industry leaders. With deliveries expected in early 2027 and commissioning later that year, the project highlights continued investment in renewable energy infrastructure and the role of wind power in enhancing energy independence and stability.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 15-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Vestas has secured a 70 MW contract from Tessa Green Energy for the delivery of 11 EnVentus V162-6.4 MW wind turbines, which will be installed at the Strazhitsa wind project in Bulgaria. The agreement also includes a long-term Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service contract, ensuring ongoing optimisation and maintenance of the turbines.

The Strazhitsa wind farm marks a notable step forward for Bulgaria’s wind energy sector, signalling renewed activity after a period of limited development. At the start of 2026, wind power has contributed significantly to shifting the country’s energy balance, helping transform Bulgaria from a net importer of electricity into a net exporter. This shift has strengthened national energy security while reducing reliance on fluctuating external energy markets.

Srdan Cenic, General Manager and Vice President of Sales for Southeast Europe and Central Asia at Vestas, highlighted the importance of the project, noting that securing a new wind development in Bulgaria after a prolonged slowdown represents a meaningful achievement for the company. He expressed optimism that the project could act as a catalyst for further wind energy investments in the country.

Alexander Manolev, Chief Executive Officer of Tessa Green Energy, underscored the strategic importance of collaborating with globally established partners. He emphasized that working with Vestas aligns with the company’s ambition to expand its regional presence and positions the Strazhitsa project as the foundation of a long-term partnership between the two organisations.

Since entering the Bulgarian market in 2007, Vestas has contributed extensively to the country’s wind energy expansion. The company has installed more than 360 MW of capacity and maintains a strong market presence supported by an experienced service network that delivers operations and maintenance services both locally and across Eastern Europe.

Project execution is set to begin with turbine deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Installation and commissioning activities are expected to follow, with completion planned across the second and third quarters of the same year.
