(IN BRIEF) Renewable energy company Vestas has secured a significant order for a 50 MW wind project in northwest Spain. The order was placed by Sinia Renovables, the renewable investment division of Banc Sabadell. Vestas will provide 11 V136-4.5 MW wind turbines for the project and a 25-year service agreement. The collaboration reflects Vestas’ dedication to sustainable energy solutions and its pivotal role in Spain’s renewable energy landscape. The project is expected to prevent around 44,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually upon completion, and turbine delivery is set to begin in Q2 2024.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 8-Aug-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Renewable energy leader Vestas has been awarded a significant 50 MW order for an upcoming wind project situated in the northwest region of Spain. The order originates from Sinia Renovables, the renewable power and climate transition investment branch of Banc Sabadell. This collaboration underscores Vestas’ commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. The comprehensive contract encompasses the supply of 11 V136-4.5 MW wind turbines and a 25-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.

Xavier Gàsquez, Managing Director at Sinia Renovables, commented, “Maintaining trusted partnerships is pivotal for Sinia as we continue our mission to drive deep decarbonization within the Spanish economy. Our enduring alliance with Vestas stands as a testament to their essential contributions to our projects.”

Agustín Sánchez Tembleque, Vestas General Manager for Spain and Portugal, expressed, “We extend our gratitude to Sinia Renovables for entrusting Vestas’ technology and service expertise. Our diversified wind turbine portfolio’s capability to cater to varying customer requirements reinforces our role in Spain’s energy transition.”

The turbine delivery phase is set to commence in the second quarter of 2024. While the project’s name remains undisclosed, its environmental impact is substantial. Once operational, it is projected to curtail around 44,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually—equivalent to removing 30,000 European passenger cars from roads each year.

Vestas’ robust service and manufacturing presence in Spain will further enhance the project’s success. The company maintains 19 service centers and operates a blade factory in Daimiel, Ciudad Real. Notably, Vestas has played an instrumental role in Spain’s wind energy landscape, installing over 5.1 GW across 130 wind parks since the installation of its inaugural turbine in 1991.
