(IN BRIEF) Lindex and BASF have partnered to introduce recycled polyamide materials into the lingerie sector using BASF’s loopamid® technology. The recycled polyamide 6 material is produced entirely from textile waste and is designed to support textile-to-textile recycling while maintaining the same quality as virgin materials. The collaboration supports Lindex’s broader sustainability goals and reflects growing efforts within the fashion industry to scale circular material solutions and reduce reliance on virgin raw materials.

(PRESS RELEASE) GOTHENBURG/ LUDWIGSHAFEN, 20-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Lindex and BASF have entered into a partnership aimed at advancing textile-to-textile recycling within the fashion industry by introducing recycled polyamide materials into the lingerie sector.

The collaboration centers around BASF’s loopamid® technology, a recycled polyamide 6 material produced entirely from textile waste, including both post-industrial and post-consumer sources. Through the partnership, Lindex plans to integrate the recycled material into selected lingerie products beginning in early 2027.

For Lindex, the initiative builds on the company’s broader sustainability strategy focused on increasing the use of recycled and sustainably sourced materials while reducing dependence on virgin raw materials. After previously advancing textile-to-textile recycled cellulosic fibers, the company is now targeting innovation within polyamide-based textiles, particularly in lingerie products where polyamide remains a widely used material.

Anna-Karin Dahlberg, Chief Sustainability Officer at Lindex, said the company sees both a responsibility and an opportunity to drive change within the lingerie category. She noted that Lindex’s scale in the segment allows it to help accelerate more circular solutions while supporting long-term sustainable growth and reducing the use of virgin materials.

Dahlberg also emphasized that progress toward circularity requires new technologies and close collaboration throughout the value chain, highlighting BASF’s role in supporting the development of recyclable material systems for the fashion industry.

BASF’s loopamid® technology has been developed to address some of the longstanding challenges associated with recycling polyamide textiles. The process is designed to handle difficult textile mixtures, including fabrics containing polyamide 6 and elastane, while maintaining material quality comparable to conventional virgin polyamide 6.

The technology also supports multiple recycling cycles, helping extend the lifecycle of textile materials and contributing to broader circular economy objectives within the apparel industry.

Dag Wiebelhaus, Head of Innovation and Project Lead for loopamid at BASF’s Monomers division, said the company’s objective is to fully close the material loop for polyamide textiles and support the transformation toward a more circular fashion industry.

The first lingerie products using loopamid® are expected to be introduced in selected Lindex collections at the beginning of 2027. The initiative also supports Lindex’s wider sustainability target of ensuring that 100 percent of the materials used in its products are either recycled or sustainably sourced by the end of 2026.

Lindex currently operates approximately 430 stores across 17 markets and sells products globally through online channels and third-party partnerships. BASF, one of the world’s largest chemical companies, continues to expand its portfolio of circular economy technologies and sustainable material solutions across multiple industries.

loopamid® is certified according to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), supporting traceability and recycled material verification within the supply chain.
