Nordex Group Invests in Local Blade Production Capacity to Support High-Efficiency Onshore Wind Turbines in Türkiye

(IN BRIEF) The Nordex Group has started production at its new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Menemen, İzmir, Türkiye, reinforcing its manufacturing footprint in one of its key onshore wind markets. Located in the İzmir Free Trade Zone, the new site covers around 130,000 square metres, including a 90,000-square-metre production building. At full capacity, it will be able to produce up to 1,200 rotor blades per year and employ around 1,200 people across production and administrative functions. The facility will manufacture blades for Nordex’s latest turbine types, including the N163 and N175 models, which are designed for medium to strong wind conditions and high energy yield. Initial production will support projects awarded under Türkiye’s YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 renewable energy tenders, while the plant is also strategically positioned to export blades for European wind energy projects. Nordex has been active in Türkiye since 2009 and has been the country’s market leader since 2017, with a market share of around 34 percent. The Menemen investment supports the company’s local content commitments, strengthens its regional supply capabilities and reflects its long-term growth strategy in Türkiye and Europe.

(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 22-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — The Nordex Group has started production at its new rotor blade manufacturing facility in Menemen, İzmir, Türkiye, marking an important step in strengthening the company’s local manufacturing presence and supporting rising demand for high-efficiency onshore wind turbines in the Turkish market.

The new facility is located in the İzmir Free Trade Zone and covers a total land area of approximately 130,000 square metres. Its production building spans around 90,000 square metres. Once operating at full capacity, the plant is designed to produce up to 1,200 rotor blades per year across four-shift operations and is expected to employ around 1,200 people in production and administrative roles.

The Menemen site will manufacture rotor blades for the Nordex Group’s latest turbine models, including the N163 and N175. These turbines are designed for medium to strong wind conditions and play an important role in helping customers achieve high energy yields and improved efficiency in onshore wind projects.

The plant will initially focus on producing blades for projects awarded under Türkiye’s YEKA renewable energy tenders, including the YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 programmes. At the same time, the facility has been positioned to support international demand, with plans to export rotor blades for European wind energy projects.

“The start of production at our new blade factory in Menemen marks an important milestone in strengthening Nordex’s manufacturing footprint in Türkiye and supporting our long-term growth strategy in the country,” said José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group. “By investing in local production capacity, we are not only contributing to the development of the wind industry in Türkiye but also enhancing our ability to fulfill further all local content requirements in accordance with the YEKA specifications.”

Türkiye is an important market for the Nordex Group, which has been active in the country since 2009. Since 2017, the company has established itself as the market leader in Türkiye, with a market share of around 34 percent. The investment in the Menemen blade facility reflects Nordex’s strong position in the Turkish onshore wind sector and its continued growth ambitions in the country.

The launch of production also strengthens Nordex’s broader manufacturing network and supports the company’s ability to serve both local and European customers. By expanding blade production in Türkiye, Nordex is increasing regional supply capabilities while supporting the development of renewable energy infrastructure and local industrial capacity.
