(IN BRIEF) SUEZ has expanded its hazardous waste operations in France through the approval of increased capacity at its Villeparisis facility and the signing of several major contracts across key industries. The facility’s capacity has been raised to 250,000 tonnes per year for 20 years, increasing SUEZ’s national storage capacity by 30%. The company continues to provide comprehensive waste management solutions across France, supported by a network of specialized facilities and technical expertise. The expansion coincides with rising demand in the hazardous waste market, driven by stricter regulations and environmental concerns. New contracts with STORENGY, B+T Group, and EURENCO further strengthen SUEZ’s position, highlighting its role in delivering advanced, compliant, and sustainable waste treatment solutions.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 2-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — SUEZ is reinforcing its position in France’s hazardous waste management sector through the approval of an expansion at its Villeparisis facility in Île-de-France and the signing of several major new contracts across key industries.

The company has received a prefectoral authorisation allowing it to extend operations at its Villeparisis site in the Seine-et-Marne department. Under this approval, the facility’s treatment capacity has been increased to 250,000 tonnes of hazardous waste annually for a period of 20 years. This development boosts SUEZ’s hazardous waste storage capacity in France by approximately 30%, strengthening its ability to respond to growing demand.

Operating since 1977, the Villeparisis site is one of only two hazardous waste storage facilities in Île-de-France included in the regional waste management framework. It plays a critical role in handling hazardous solid mineral waste generated by around one thousand customers, including industrial companies, construction firms, and local authorities. Waste streams processed at the site include contaminated soils from industrial remediation, asbestos and lead-containing materials from building renovation and demolition, as well as residues from flue gas treatment at energy-from-waste plants and boilers across the region.

With the newly granted authorisation, the site will continue to safely manage hazardous waste from Île-de-France and other regions lacking suitable treatment infrastructure, ensuring long-term continuity of service and regulatory compliance.

Beyond Villeparisis, SUEZ maintains a comprehensive hazardous waste management network across France, with a total treatment capacity of 1.6 million tonnes annually. Its capabilities span the full value chain, including sorting and consolidation at multiple facilities, converting high-calorific hazardous waste into alternative fuels for cement production, treating industrial wastewater, high-temperature incineration exceeding 1,100°C at its Isère platforms, and the secure containment of non-recoverable waste. The company also provides on-site waste management services directly at customer facilities.

The expansion comes as France’s hazardous waste market continues to grow, driven by increasingly stringent environmental regulations, heightened requirements for traceability, and rising concerns around substances such as PFAS. Industrial companies are increasingly seeking tailored and technically advanced solutions to meet these evolving challenges.

Reflecting this momentum, SUEZ has recently secured three significant contracts with leading players in the pharmaceuticals, energy, and defence sectors, collectively valued in the tens of millions of euros.

STORENGY has awarded SUEZ a four-year contract to manage and treat aqueous effluents from several sites across France. These effluents are processed at the Villers-Saint-Paul wastewater treatment plant and subsequently incinerated at facilities in Pont-de-Claix and Roussillon.

B+T Group has renewed its partnership with SUEZ for the handling of hazardous ash generated at its energy-from-solid recovered fuel facility in Chalampé. SUEZ has been managing the company’s hazardous waste since 2023 at its Vaivre and Jeandelaincourt facilities.

EURENCO has also entrusted SUEZ with a five-year contract, under which the company will handle over 1,000 tonnes of hazardous waste. The services include sorting, conversion into alternative fuels, high-temperature incineration, and secure disposal across its sites in Bergerac and Sorgues.

Michel Durrmeyer highlighted that the strong commercial activity reflects growing demand for secure and compliant hazardous waste solutions. He emphasized that SUEZ’s expertise enables it to deliver high-performance treatment services that meet strict regulatory requirements while supporting industrial and municipal customers.
