Langley Holdings Seeks New Strategic Home for Manroland Sheetfed Service and Parts Business

(IN BRIEF) Langley Holdings has agreed to transfer major parts of the Manroland Sheetfed business to HEIDELBERG, subject to the usual approvals and closing conditions. HEIDELBERG is expected to take over Manroland’s global service and spare-parts operations, related intellectual property, market organisations in around 35 countries, selected assets and approximately 600 employees. The transaction also includes intellectual property for the Roland 900 and Cartonmaster large-format presses. The companies said the agreement is intended to secure long-term service, technical support and spare-parts availability for more than 3,000 Manroland Sheetfed users worldwide. Langley acquired the business in 2012 and said a strategic solution was needed after continued losses in its Print Technologies division despite record group performance in 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) RETFORD, 24-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Langley Holdings plc has reached an agreement with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) for the planned transfer of significant elements of the Manroland Sheetfed business.

Under the proposed transaction, HEIDELBERG would acquire Manroland Sheetfed’s global service and spare-parts operations, together with related intellectual property, selected assets, sales and market organisations in around 35 countries, and approximately 600 employees.

The agreement also includes the transfer of intellectual property associated with the Roland 900 and Cartonmaster large-format press platforms.

The planned transaction is intended to provide long-term continuity for more than 3,000 Manroland Sheetfed users worldwide. Customers are expected to retain support from established local contacts while gaining access to HEIDELBERG’s international service organisation, logistics infrastructure and broader lifecycle support capabilities.

Langley Holdings acquired the sheetfed division of the former Manroland AG from German insolvency proceedings in 2012. The group has supported the business financially for more than a decade.

While Langley Holdings reported record overall performance in 2025, its Print Technologies division continued to generate substantial losses, according to the Chairman’s Review in the company’s 2025 Annual Report. Against that background, the group said it sought a strategic solution for Manroland Sheetfed, its employees, customers and installed equipment base.

The agreement with HEIDELBERG is intended to combine two established names in sheetfed offset printing and create a stronger platform for ongoing technical support, spare-parts availability and customer service.

Anthony Langley, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Langley Holdings, said the company had supported Manroland Sheetfed through a difficult period for the global printing press sector since acquiring the business in 2012.

He said the agreement with HEIDELBERG would support continuity of service and spare-parts provision while placing Manroland Sheetfed within an organisation with the scale and infrastructure to assist users over the long term.

Jürgen Otto, Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, said the transaction supports HEIDELBERG’s strategy to drive consolidation in the printing industry.

He said combining Manroland Sheetfed’s service and spare-parts business with HEIDELBERG’s sales subsidiaries, service operations and logistics network would expand access to customers, markets and growth opportunities while supporting a reliable global supply of technical services and parts.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to customary approvals and other conditions precedent.
