Hiab Launches Environmentally Friendly MULTILIFT Hooklifts to Help Customers Reduce Carbon Emissions

(IN BRIEF) Hiab, a division of Cargotec, has introduced two new MULTILIFT hooklifts, the MULTILIFT Ultima 28Z and MULTILIFT Ultima ZERO, designed with a focus on sustainability and reduced carbon emissions. The heavy-duty MULTILIFT Ultima 28Z offers a lifting capacity of 28 tonnes, making it versatile and efficient for demanding tasks, with features like ease of use and safety. Additionally, it is well-suited for handling fragile goods and environments with height limitations. On the other hand, the MULTILIFT Ultima ZERO, available as an option for several Ultima hooklifts, replaces up to 25% of the steel structure with recycled steel produced using renewable electricity and an electric arc furnace, reducing carbon emissions by 15% during production. Further emission reduction of up to 25% is possible during use with the Performance Package, which allows the hooklift to operate with fewer engine revolutions per minute and faster operations. Hiab’s commitment to sustainability aligns with customer priorities, offering eco-friendly solutions while maintaining productivity and safety. Henri Janhonen, Vice President, Sales & Product Management, Demountables at Hiab, highlighted the importance of sustainability as a key purchasing criterion for many customers.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 9-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Hiab, part of Cargotec, launches two new MULTILIFT hooklifts, the versatile heavy-duty MULTILIFT Ultima 28Z and MULTILIFT Ultima ZERO, made with low-emission recycled steel. Both new hooklifts can help customers reduce carbon emissions in their operations.

Safe and easy-to-use heavy-duty hooklift
Combining unmatched versatility and durability with a heavy-duty 28-tonne lifting capacity, MULTILIFT Ultima 28Z lets customers complete the most demanding tasks faster, with fewer hauls. It is very easy to use and safe, which makes it ideal for customers who have multiple drivers for the same vehicle. Hooklifts in the Z range have a low loading angle suited for handling fragile goods and height limited environments.

Reducing carbon emissions
The MULTILIFT Ultima ZERO is available as an option for several Ultima hooklifts with 20-tonne to 30-tonne capacity. Offering the same benefits and properties as the regular models, up to 25% of the steel structure is replaced with recycled steel made with an electric arc furnace and renewable electricity. This reduces 15% of the carbon emissions from the production phase. Emissions can be further reduced by up to 25% in the use phase with the Performance Package included in Ultima ZERO. The MULTILIFT Performance Package reduces emissions and noise by allowing the hooklift to be operated with fewer revolutions per minute by the truck engine and faster operations.

Commitment to sustainability
“For many customers sustainability is a key purchase criterion alongside productivity and safety. We’re proud to give customers the option to purchase hooklifts made with recycled steel that has a significantly lower carbon footprint. As part of our dedication to sustainability, we’re always looking at creating solutions to reduce energy consumption, such as expanding capacity or the Performance Package,” says Henri Janhonen, Vice President, Sales & Product Management, Demountables, Hiab.
