(IN BRIEF) DWS has acquired an interest in Flannery Plant Hire, the UK’s largest operated heavy construction plant-hire company, while the Flannery family retains a significant stake and Patrick Flannery Junior and Martin Flannery remain joint CEOs. Flannery provides specialist machinery and skilled operators for major infrastructure projects, including HS2, Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and water and electricity-grid programmes. With more than 7,900 fleet units and 16 depots across the UK and Ireland, the company is positioned to support long-term demand from transport, energy and utilities investment. DWS said the partnership will support Flannery’s next phase of growth through capital, sector expertise and continued operational development.

(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, 29-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — DWS has completed the acquisition of an interest in Flannery Plant Hire, partnering with the Flannery family and the company’s management team to support the next stage of growth for the UK heavy construction equipment business.

The Flannery family has retained a significant ownership interest in the company. Patrick Flannery Junior and Martin Flannery will continue to lead the business as joint chief executive officers.

Flannery Plant Hire is the UK’s largest operated heavy construction plant-hire company. It supplies specialist large-scale construction machinery together with trained operators to customers including major Tier 1 contractors working on infrastructure projects.

The company serves long-term national infrastructure programmes across transport, energy and utilities. Its project exposure includes High Speed 2, Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and investment programmes connected with water and electricity-grid networks.

Flannery operates a nationwide fleet of more than 7,900 units across 16 depots in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company said its young and diversified equipment base supports a broad range of specialist construction requirements.

DWS said the investment reflects its experience in equipment-leasing businesses, its work with family-owned companies and its understanding of the UK infrastructure sectors served by Flannery’s clients.

Hamish Mackenzie, Global Head of Infrastructure at DWS, said the investment is aligned with DWS’s focus on high-quality, asset-backed infrastructure businesses and the importance of supply-chain resilience.

He added that Flannery is positioned to benefit from long-term capital spending in UK transport, energy and utility infrastructure, including investment linked to the energy transition and digitalisation.

Patrick Flannery Junior, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Flannery Plant Hire, said the company had sought a partner that shared its values, understood its long-term objectives and could provide capital and expertise to support future growth.

The partnership is intended to strengthen Flannery’s ability to continue serving major infrastructure contractors while investing in the company’s operational development and long-term expansion.
