Fifty monopiles have been successfully installed, marking a crucial step towards sustainable energy generation in the Baltic Sea. This endeavor is a testament to Iberdrola’s commitment to renewable energy and its role as a leader in the global energy transition.

The monopiles, crafted by the esteemed Rostock-based firm EEW SPC, were expertly transported from the port of Rostock to the Baltic Eagle offshore construction site. The precision positioning of these monopiles was achieved through the utilization of Van Oord’s heavy-lift installation vessel, Svanen. With diameters ranging from 8.75 to 9 meters and lengths spanning between 75 and 90 meters, these monopiles serve as the robust foundation upon which the wind turbines will securely stand, firmly anchored in the seabed.

This collaborative effort spans multiple European countries, including Germany, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium, demonstrating the global reach of the Baltic Eagle project.

Iberdrola’s Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm boasts an impressive production capacity of 476 MW, poised to supply renewable energy to approximately 475,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 800,000 tonnes annually. This transformative project is set to be fully operational by the end of 2024, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ambitious renewable energy portfolio.

Baltic Eagle stands as the second of three ambitious projects in Germany, with Iberdrola already operating the 350-MW Wikinger wind farm and actively developing the 300-MW Windanker project, anticipated for completion in 2026. Together, these offshore wind farms form Iberdrola’s visionary Baltic Hub, which is projected to have a total capacity exceeding 1.1 GW by 2026, representing a combined investment of approximately 3.7 billion euros.
