(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, 1-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — LANXESS has reaffirmed its leadership in sustainability by securing the top position in Europe and ranking fifth globally within the chemicals sector in the Dow Jones Best in Class Index. The latest results highlight the company’s continued progress across key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.

The ranking, compiled by S&P Global, evaluates companies on a wide range of sustainability criteria. LANXESS achieved particularly strong scores in climate strategy, water management, human rights, and product stewardship—areas that remain central to its long-term corporate strategy.

Chief Executive Officer Matthias Zachert emphasised that the company’s performance reflects a consistent commitment to embedding sustainability into its core operations. He noted that even in challenging economic conditions, LANXESS continues to prioritise climate protection, responsible resource use, and robust governance practices, strengthening trust among stakeholders including customers, investors, and partners.

In addition to its index ranking, LANXESS has improved its ESG risk profile according to Sustainalytics, which recently upgraded the company from a “Medium Risk” to a “Low Risk” classification. With a score of 19.6, the Group now ranks among the top performers in both the specialty chemicals segment and the broader global chemicals industry.

The company’s sustainability credentials have also been recognised by other leading organisations. CDP has once again included LANXESS on its “A List” for climate performance and awarded a high rating for its water stewardship efforts. Meanwhile, EcoVadis has reaffirmed the company’s Gold status, placing it among the highest-rated companies in its sector with a score of 83 out of 100.

LANXESS continues to advance its long-term sustainability objectives, including its commitment to achieving climate neutrality in production and energy use by 2040, and across its entire value chain by 2050. The company’s strategy integrates environmental responsibility with economic performance and governance standards, positioning sustainability as a key driver of future growth.
