Schneider Electric El Paso and Beijing Sites Join World Economic Forum Global Lighthouse Network

(IN BRIEF) Schneider Electric has received two new World Economic Forum Global Lighthouse Network designations for its manufacturing sites in El Paso and Beijing. The El Paso facility was recognised for customer-centric Engineer-to-Order operations, raising on-time delivery from 61% to 97%, cutting lead times by up to 35% and eliminating $43 million in backorders. The Beijing facility was recognised for end-to-end sustainability, reporting reductions of 65% in Scope 1 emissions, 43% in Scope 3 emissions and 36% in energy use, while eliminating Scope 2 emissions. Both sites use digital tools, connected systems and artificial intelligence to improve manufacturing and supply-chain performance.

The recognition places the two facilities among operational sites and value chains identified by the World Economic Forum for applying digital technologies to improve productivity, supply-chain resilience, sustainability, customer responsiveness and workforce performance.

Schneider Electric said the designations reflect the use of artificial intelligence, connected systems and advanced analytics to strengthen manufacturing operations while responding to growing customer, environmental and supply-chain requirements.

Mourad Tamoud, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Schneider Electric, said the recognition demonstrates the company’s approach to combining people, digital technologies and sustainability across its supply chain.

He said the El Paso and Beijing facilities show how advanced technologies, including AI, can improve customer value while supporting decarbonisation throughout operations and the wider ecosystem.

El Paso site advances Engineer-to-Order delivery performance

The El Paso facility was recognised as the first Engineer-to-Order Lighthouse site within Schneider Electric’s global manufacturing network. It received distinction in the World Economic Forum’s Customer Centric category and is the first site in the United States to receive this distinction since 2021.

The site produces customised low- and medium-voltage electrical solutions used to distribute power across industrial, commercial and residential applications.

Schneider Electric said the El Paso plant has digitised complex Engineer-to-Order processes from end to end, improving visibility and execution accuracy across engineering, manufacturing and supply-chain activities.

The changes were introduced amid growing demand for data-centre infrastructure and increasingly customised customer requirements.

By applying Internet of Things technologies and AI-enabled tools across its Engineer-to-Order value chain, the site increased on-time delivery from 61% to 97%, reduced lead times by up to 35% and eliminated $43 million in backorders.

Connected systems and advanced analytics are also used to align engineering, production and supply-chain operations, helping the facility deliver tailored electrical solutions more quickly and reliably.

As Schneider Electric’s largest manufacturing operation in the United States, the El Paso campus also supports the company’s investment in domestic manufacturing capacity and more resilient local supply chains.

Beijing site recognised for value-chain decarbonisation

Schneider Electric’s Beijing facility was recognised for its sustainability performance and its use of digital technologies to reduce emissions across the full value chain.

The site combines Engineer-to-Order and discrete manufacturing and produces SF₆-free electrical solutions supported by Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform.

Despite 30% business growth, increased insourcing activity and tougher sustainability requirements, the Beijing site introduced an end-to-end decarbonisation strategy intended to support expansion while reducing its environmental impact.

The programme includes more than 50 advanced use cases, covering SF₆-free product design, supplier decarbonisation initiatives, AI-enabled energy optimisation and SF₆ circularity measures.

Schneider Electric said the initiatives enabled the site to reduce Scope 1 emissions by 65%, eliminate Scope 2 emissions and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 43%. Energy efficiency improved by 36%.

The facility has also introduced green logistics measures and works with suppliers and other partners to address emissions beyond its direct operations.

Schneider Electric said the recognition demonstrates how digital transformation can support manufacturing growth, more responsive customer service and lower environmental impact at the same time.

The company added that the El Paso and Beijing examples provide a model for manufacturers seeking to improve supply-chain resilience, operational agility and sustainability through intelligent, data-driven operations.
