(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 16-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales has secured a contract with Pilatus Aircraft Ltd to supply its advanced radio management system for trainer aircraft, providing enhanced communication capabilities designed to support demanding military training missions.

The system will deliver resilient, flexible and reliable communications tailored to the evolving operational requirements faced by modern military training aircraft. By improving communication management within the cockpit, the solution is intended to strengthen mission performance and ensure dependable connectivity throughout complex training environments.

The agreement marks a further development in the long-standing relationship between Pilatus and Thales, highlighting the two companies’ continued cooperation in advancing innovation and operational capability within the military aviation sector.

Pilatus selected the Thales radio management system due to its ability to meet strict military operational standards while offering greater adaptability and reliability than traditional communication technologies. The system has been designed to function across a range of operational scenarios and mission profiles, ensuring that aircraft crews maintain consistent and secure communications during training and tactical activities.

Among the system’s key characteristics is full compliance with military standards, enabling integration with advanced mission systems and allowing it to operate effectively in complex operational environments. It is also engineered for mission-critical applications, delivering robust and uninterrupted communication performance even under challenging conditions.

Another key feature of the system is its flexibility, allowing operators to adapt the technology as operational needs evolve. Whether used during pilot training or for tactical operational scenarios, the system is designed to support changing requirements without compromising reliability or performance.

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd’s decision to adopt the system reflects confidence in Thales’s expertise in avionics and secure communication technologies. The project also follows a strategic expansion of Thales’s capabilities in cockpit connectivity and secure communications, strengthened by its acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications in April 2024.

Nicolas Bonleux, Vice President of Aerospace Communications at Thales, said the engineering teams from both companies collaborated closely throughout the development process to deliver a solution tailored to the program’s needs. The resulting system, he noted, offers high operational efficiency and will support aircraft performing particularly demanding training missions.
