FL Technics Indonesia expands regional MRO ambitions while addressing logistics and sustainability challenges

(IN BRIEF) FL Technics Indonesia highlighted the increasing pressure facing Southeast Asia’s aviation maintenance industry during MRO Southeast Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur. Company representatives pointed to continuing supply chain instability, rising logistics costs and material shortages as key challenges affecting maintenance turnaround times and operational efficiency across the region. The discussions also emphasised the importance of regional cooperation, infrastructure development and sustainability initiatives as MRO providers work to strengthen resilience and expand maintenance capacity in the Asia-Pacific aviation market.

(PRESS RELEASE) VILNIUS, 20-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — FL Technics Indonesia used its participation at MRO Southeast Asia 2026 in Kuala Lumpur to spotlight the growing operational pressures facing the aviation maintenance industry across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly as supply chain instability, logistics disruptions and material shortages continue to affect maintenance providers and airlines alike.

During the event, Dobrica Djordjevic, Chief Production Officer at FL Technics Indonesia, joined an industry panel titled “New Hubs, New Models, New Collaborations Driving MRO Capacity,” where aviation maintenance leaders discussed the evolving demands shaping Southeast Asia’s rapidly expanding MRO sector.

A major focus of the discussion centred on the continuing strain affecting aviation supply chains, including increased transportation expenses, longer delivery times and limited availability of aircraft materials and components. According to Djordjevic, airlines operating across the region are increasingly seeking maintenance support that is more localised, integrated and capable of delivering faster turnaround times closer to operational bases.

He noted that despite signs of recovery in parts of the aviation industry, supply chain conditions remain unstable, with recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East adding additional pressure to already fragile logistics networks. Rising freight costs and unpredictable delivery schedules are forcing maintenance providers to reassess sourcing strategies, inventory management and operational planning in order to maintain service reliability.

The panel also explored the growing importance of regional partnerships and cross-border cooperation as maintenance organisations attempt to improve flexibility and resilience in increasingly complex market conditions. Industry participants agreed that future MRO growth in Southeast Asia will depend not only on infrastructure expansion but also on stronger collaboration models capable of adapting quickly to shifting operational realities.

Against this backdrop, FL Technics Indonesia continues to expand its own footprint in the region. The company recently signed an initial expansion agreement with Indonesian airport authorities related to the development of its maintenance facility at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. The planned expansion reflects broader efforts to strengthen local MRO capacity within one of Southeast Asia’s busiest aviation markets.

Sustainability and environmental efficiency also formed part of the discussions during the conference. FL Technics Indonesia currently operates fully electric operational and ground support vehicles at its Bali hangar facility, while the future Jakarta site is expected to integrate similar sustainability-focused measures, including the planned installation of approximately 100 kilowatts of solar panel capacity.

Djordjevic said long-term growth in the regional maintenance sector will increasingly rely on operational adaptability, investment in skilled workforce development and the ability of companies to respond rapidly to changing market conditions rather than relying solely on additional hangar infrastructure.

The discussions at MRO Southeast Asia 2026 reflected the broader transformation underway across the global aviation maintenance industry, where operators and service providers are working to balance growing travel demand with ongoing supply chain constraints, technological shifts and sustainability expectations.
