(IN BRIEF) MAN Truck & Bus has unveiled the new all-electric MAN eTGM distribution truck at Transpotec Logitec 2026 in Milan, expanding its electric commercial vehicle portfolio into the 16-tonne segment. The new truck offers up to 480 kilometres of range, up to 10.6 tonnes of payload capacity, and a modular battery-electric platform adapted from MAN’s larger eTGX and eTGS truck series. Designed for urban and regional logistics, municipal services, and construction applications, the eTGM supports fleet decarbonisation and compliance with EU emissions regulations. The launch forms part of MAN’s broader strategy to expand electric mobility solutions across the commercial transport sector.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 14-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — MAN Truck & Bus has introduced the new MAN eTGM as a world premiere at the Transpotec Logitec 2026 commercial vehicle exhibition in Milan, expanding the company’s battery-electric truck portfolio into the important 16-tonne distribution transport segment.

The launch completes MAN’s electric truck range from 12 to 50 tonnes and strengthens the company’s strategy to support the decarbonisation of commercial transport through a unified modular electric vehicle platform.

The new MAN eTGM is designed for urban and regional distribution operations, municipal services, construction applications, and waste management transport. The vehicle offers a range of up to 480 kilometres, a permissible gross vehicle weight of 16.01 tonnes — optionally 16.5 tonnes — and a chassis payload capacity of up to approximately 10.6 tonnes.

The truck also supports trailer operation with a gross combination weight of up to 33 tonnes, allowing operators to use the vehicle across a broad range of commercial transport applications.

Friedrich Baumann, Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus, stated that the eTGM represents the logical expansion of the company’s electric truck portfolio and provides a dedicated electric solution for inner-city and regional distribution transport.

The MAN eTGM is based on the same modular battery-electric vehicle architecture used in the company’s heavy-duty eTGX and eTGS model ranges. Core components including the electric drive system, battery technology, high-voltage architecture, and thermal management systems were adapted from MAN’s larger electric trucks for use in the mid-range segment.

The vehicle uses the MAN eCD210 electric drive system delivering 210 kW (285 horsepower) and up to 800 Nm of torque combined with the MAN TipMatic 2 transmission system. According to the company, the truck’s high recuperation performance improves energy efficiency, particularly during stop-and-go urban driving conditions.

MAN stated that the modular battery system allows customers to configure the vehicle with between two and four battery packs depending on operational requirements, helping optimize vehicle weight, range, and operating costs.

The manufacturer emphasized that the eTGM was developed in close cooperation with body manufacturers to simplify integration for different transport applications. The vehicle includes body-friendly interfaces, optimized wheelbases, and a mechanical power take-off shaft (mPTO), a feature the company described as a competitive differentiator in the electric truck market.

The introduction of the eTGM also supports transport companies seeking to reduce fleet emissions and comply with European Union CO₂ reduction targets for heavy commercial vehicles. In many European countries, operators of electric trucks above 16 tonnes additionally benefit from lower or exempted road toll charges.

MAN highlighted that rising fuel costs, stricter environmental regulations, and increasing restrictions on urban vehicle emissions and noise are accelerating demand for electric commercial vehicles, particularly in city distribution and regional logistics operations.

At the Transpotec Logitec 2026 exhibition in Milan, MAN Truck & Bus is showcasing a broad range of commercial mobility solutions covering long-haul transport, construction vehicles, urban logistics, passenger transport, and electric mobility technologies.

The company is also presenting the MAN eTGX for long-distance transport, supported by charging infrastructure solutions including Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology, alongside digital fleet services, financing solutions, and decarbonisation support systems.

Additional vehicles displayed at the exhibition include the MAN TGX D30, TGS construction vehicles, TGL distribution trucks, TGE commercial vans, the MAN Lion’s City 12 E LE electric city bus, and the MAN Lion’s Intercity R60 Hybrid coach.

Headquartered in Munich, MAN Truck & Bus is one of Europe’s major manufacturers of commercial vehicles, buses, and transport solutions, with increasing focus on battery-electric mobility and sustainable freight transportation technologies.
