Irish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources underlines significance of debate on renewable energy for the EU’s future internal energy market

4-2-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — Addressing the European Wind Energy Association in Vienna, Irish Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte, TD, stressed the importance of renewable energy for the EU, and for the Irish Presidency.

Speaking at a meeting of the European Wind Energy Association in Vienna on Monday 4 February, Irish Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte highlighted the recent MOU on energy cooperation between Ireland and the UK as a step towards realising the potential for international trade in renewable energy.  He explained the current policy environment within the EU on the development of wind and other renewable energy, including on market reform and on infrastructure.

The Minister also described Ireland’s national approach.  He highlighted the recent signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ireland and the UK as an example of potential international trade in renewable energy, and a win-win scenario.
