Infineon Showcases OptiMOS 7 MOSFETs at PCIM 2023 Tradeshows

The new OptiMOS family members offer reduced switching losses, improved Safe Operating Area (SOA) robustness and high avalanche current capability.

(IN BRIEF) Infineon Technologies AG has launched its latest generation of power MOSFETs for automotive applications, called the OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family. These MOSFETs combine thin-wafer technology with innovative packaging to deliver significant performance benefits in tiny packages, making them ideal for all standard and future automotive 40V MOSFET applications. They offer reduced switching losses, improved SOA robustness, high avalanche current capability and come in a variety of rugged automotive power packages. The OptiMOS 40 V family is already in production, and the first products can be ordered in August 2023. Infineon will also showcase the product at the PCIM 2023 tradeshow, where the company will demonstrate innovative product-to-system solutions for applications that will power the world and shape the future.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 5-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY), a German semiconductor manufacturer, has unveiled its latest generation of power MOSFETs for automotive applications, the OptiMOS™ 7 40V MOSFET family. These MOSFETs come in a range of lead-free and robust power packages, combining 300 mm thin-wafer technology with innovative packaging to deliver significant performance benefits in tiny packages.

“The OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family will set a new benchmark in power density, current capability and chip ruggedness,” said Axel Hahn, Senior Vice President Automotive MOSFET of Infineon. “With its leading edge technology, the family offers excellent efficiency and power in a compact design. The devices offer the highest power density and energy efficiency with the industry’s lowest on-state resistance.”

The OptiMOS 7 family is ideal for all standard and future automotive 40V MOSFET applications, such as electric power steering, braking systems, disconnect switches, new zone architectures, battery management, e-fuse boxes, DC-DC, and BLDC drives. With reduced switching losses, improved Safe Operating Area (SOA) robustness, and high avalanche current capability, these devices enable the design of tomorrow’s high efficiency automotive applications.

The MOSFETs are available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including TDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8, and topside cooling, and enable high system efficiency in the smallest form factor while reducing space requirements. Cooling can be improved while system costs are reduced, and the devices facilitate the easy design of products and applications with the highest quality.

The OptiMOS 40 V family is already in production, and the first products can be ordered in August 2023. More information is available at www.infineon.com/optimos7. Infineon will also showcase the product at the PCIM 2023 tradeshow.

At PCIM Europe 2023, Infineon will demonstrate innovative product-to-system solutions for applications that will power the world and shape the future. Company representatives will give several presentations at the accompanying PCIM Conference and Industry & E-Mobility Forum, followed by discussions with the speakers. The tradeshow will take place from May 9-11, 2023, at the Infineon booth #412 in hall 7, in Nuremberg, Germany. To learn more about the PCIM Europe 2023 show highlights, visit www.infineon.com/pcim.
