Fortum’s nuclear power plant unit 2 in Loviisa will be shut down for a repair of a minor gasket leak

30-10-2012 — /europawire.eu/ — Today, on October 20th 2012, a minor leak was found in the gasket water system to one of the main circulation pumps at Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant’s reactor unit 2. In order to repair the leak, the unit will be shut down with normal measures. The cooling of the unit is estimated to take some 24 hours, after which the repair works can be started. The repair works are estimated to take less than 24 hours after which the unit will be started up.

The leak caused no threat to people, environment or the power plant.
