FCA Launches AI Supercharged Sandbox with NVIDIA to Boost Innovation Across Financial Sector

(IN BRIEF) The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched the Supercharged Sandbox, a new initiative aimed at helping financial services firms safely experiment with artificial intelligence during the early discovery and testing phases. Partnering with NVIDIA, the FCA will provide participants access to cutting-edge accelerated computing resources and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise Software Suite. Scheduled to begin in October 2025, the sandbox offers enhanced infrastructure, data access via NayaOne, regulatory guidance, and technical expertise to accelerate AI-driven innovation. The move aligns with the FCA’s digital strategy and supports economic growth by enabling responsible use of AI without introducing new regulations. Applications are now open via the FCA website.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 9-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has unveiled its new Supercharged Sandbox, an initiative designed to allow financial services firms to safely experiment with artificial intelligence (AI) as part of their innovation efforts.

In collaboration with global AI leader NVIDIA, the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox will offer firms access to advanced accelerated computing capabilities and NVIDIA’s comprehensive AI Enterprise Software Suite. This strategic partnership will provide participants with the resources needed to test AI applications in a secure and supportive environment—whether they’re just beginning to explore AI use cases or building on early-stage prototypes.

Set to launch experimentation in October 2025, the Supercharged Sandbox aims to facilitate early-phase discovery and testing, complementing the FCA’s existing AI Live Testing service, which caters to firms that are further along in AI development and closer to deployment.

The initiative reflects the FCA’s commitment to promoting economic growth by enabling responsible innovation and adopting transformative technologies. Firms selected for the sandbox will benefit not only from high-performance computing resources but also from regulatory guidance and access to synthetic data via the Digital Sandbox infrastructure provided by NayaOne.

Jessica Rusu, Chief Data, Intelligence and Information Officer at the FCA, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating:

“This collaboration will help those that want to test AI ideas but who lack the capabilities to do so. We’ll help firms harness AI to benefit our markets and consumers, while supporting economic growth.”

Dr. Jochen Papenbrock, EMEA Head of Financial Technology at NVIDIA, added:

“AI is fundamentally reshaping the financial sector by automating processes, enhancing data analysis, and improving decision-making, which leads to greater efficiency, accuracy, and risk management across a wide range of financial activities. The FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox provides firms with a secure environment to explore AI innovations using NVIDIA’s full stack accelerated computing platform.”

Firms interested in participating can now submit applications through the FCA’s website, with accepted applicants gaining access to the tools and support necessary to explore AI solutions that may transform the financial landscape.

The FCA has made AI a central pillar of its broader digital strategy. In April 2025, it proposed AI Live Testing to complement earlier-stage innovation efforts. Its AI Update published in 2024 outlines how existing regulatory frameworks apply to the use of AI, with the FCA reaffirming its stance to avoid unnecessary new regulations and instead rely on established governance structures.
