Evergreen Marine Adopts NexusWave to Enhance Crew Welfare and Accelerate Digitalisation

(IN BRIEF) Evergreen Marine has become the first Taiwanese shipping company to deploy Inmarsat Maritime’s NexusWave connectivity service across its fleet. The bonded, high-speed platform supports Evergreen’s digitalisation strategy by enhancing crew welfare, improving cybersecurity, and enabling advanced operational applications. Built on the ViaSat-3 network, NexusWave delivers scalable, always-on connectivity to support both onboard life and future fleet innovation.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 7-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Evergreen Marine has selected NexusWave, the bonded high-speed connectivity service from Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, as the standard connectivity solution across its fleet. The move makes Evergreen the first Taiwanese shipping operator to deploy NexusWave fleetwide and represents a major step forward in its digital transformation strategy.

Following a series of successful trials, Evergreen Marine is transitioning to NexusWave to support its long-term “Evergreen IT” modernisation programme. The new connectivity platform is designed to enhance crew welfare, strengthen cybersecurity, and provide consistent, high-performance digital infrastructure for both operational and personal use onboard vessels.

The upgrade builds on Evergreen’s previous use of Fleet Xpress and introduces bonded, multi-network connectivity delivering high speeds, unlimited data, and always-on performance. For crew members, this translates into a significantly improved onboard internet experience similar to that onshore. For ship operations, NexusWave provides a scalable digital foundation capable of supporting advanced applications such as predictive analytics, real-time refrigerated container monitoring, and fleetwide Internet of Things integration.

NexusWave is engineered with security at its core and leverages the ViaSat-3 ultra-high-capacity satellite network, ensuring the platform can scale in line with Evergreen’s operational growth and evolving digital requirements.

Evergreen Marine said the decision reflects the company’s commitment to improving quality of life for seafarers while maintaining high operational standards and enabling continued innovation for customers. The company added that the bonded, scalable, and secure nature of NexusWave positions the fleet to support future digital initiatives and long-term growth.

Gert-Jan Panken, Vice President Maritime at Viasat, said the fleetwide adoption of NexusWave demonstrates Evergreen’s leadership in data-driven shipping. He noted that the solution provides a single, managed connectivity platform for both crew and vessel operations, supported by global coverage and secure infrastructure, and strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
