(PRESS RELEASE) ESSEN, 3-Mar-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  DB Schenker, a leader in supply chain management and logistics solutions part of Deutsche Bahn AG, has received the first pilot Volta Zero truck to participate in the European field test. The company visited the Volta Trucks contract manufacturing facility in Steyr, Austria to witness the final prototype generation of the all-electric Volta Zero truck in pre-production. The company will be handed over 150 Volta Trucks in 2023.

DB Schenker witnessed the build of the Volta Zero Production Verification prototype in Steyr, which will be one of a fleet of test trucks to be operated by the company as part of a European field trial. These trucks will be used in DB Schenker’s European terminals to transport goods from distribution hubs to city centres and urban areas. The innovative design of the vehicle, including its safety-oriented cab to protect vulnerable road users and its zero-tailpipe emission drivetrain, will offer significant benefits in these areas.

The next phase of testing will allow DB Schenker to operate the Volta Zero in real distribution environments carrying full payloads.

DB Schenker will operate these test vehicles in 18 different cities across Europe and Scandinavia, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway.
