TotalEnergies Supports Transporters’ Transition to Electric Mobility with Tailored Charging Services

(IN BRIEF) TotalEnergies has launched an innovative in-depot electric truck charging service at the SOLUTRANS trade show. This service is designed to facilitate the transition to electric mobility for transport companies by providing customized charging infrastructure. It includes efficient charge points that optimize the time trucks are parked in depots for effective recharging and ultra-fast charge points for extra charging needs. TotalEnergies will work closely with customers to determine the right charging infrastructure for their fleets, provide green electricity, management tools, and 24/7 customer support. Additionally, the company plans to install charging points along European road corridors from 2024 to serve transporters’ charging needs outside their depots, including high-power charge points during mandatory breaks and slow charge points at rest areas.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 21-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — TotalEnergies (EPA:TTE), a global multi-energy company with over 100,000 employees and presence in more than 130 countries as well as the world’s 3rd-largest low-carbon LNG company, has introduced a groundbreaking in-depot electric truck charging service at the SOLUTRANS road and urban transportation trade show. This new initiative aims to facilitate the transition to electric mobility for transport companies by delivering customized charging infrastructure tailored to their specific requirements.

Addressing Transporters’ Specific Needs:

As electric trucks now boast ample driving ranges for urban and regional deliveries (ranging from 150 to 500 kilometers per day), TotalEnergies has devised an in-depot charging solution. This offering includes the installation and management of charging points meticulously designed to meet the unique demands of transporters. Key features of the service comprise:

  1. Charging points optimized to make the most of the time trucks spend parked at depots, ensuring a swift recharge to 100% capacity.
  2. Ultra-fast charging points with capacities of up to 400 kW to fulfill additional charging demands.

In an all-encompassing approach, TotalEnergies collaborates with customers to determine the optimal size of the required charging infrastructure, installs the charging points, supplies environmentally friendly electricity, furnishes management and monitoring tools, implements a smart charging system for fleet optimization, and provides round-the-clock customer support.

Enhancing Road Corridor Charging:

To cater to transporters’ charging needs beyond their depots, TotalEnergies will deploy charging points along Europe’s road corridors, commencing in 2024. These installations will encompass high-power charging points (HPC¹) for mandatory breaks during extended journeys and slow charge points at rest areas, enabling charging while drivers rest.

Mathieu Soulas, Senior Vice President New Mobilities & Marketing at TotalEnergies, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development and low-carbon solutions for decarbonizing road transportation on a large scale. “In order to decarbonize road transportation on a large scale, is critical to develop infrastructure and provide transporters with low-carbon solutions. Backed by our close ties with the transport sector and our strong position in electric mobility in Europe, TotalEnergies has developed a solution tailored to transporters’ needs to support them in their fleet management and energy transition,”

¹CCS (Combined Charging System) then MCS (Megawatt Charging System) when this technology becomes available.
