Stadler Signalling and ebblo Western Europe Partner to Integrate Passenger Information Displays with Public Transport Control Systems

(IN BRIEF) Stadler Signalling and ebblo Western Europe have established a cooperation aimed at integrating display hardware with mobility software to create modern passenger information solutions for public transport systems. The partnership focuses on connecting Stadler’s TFT-based MOFIS Passenger Information Monitor displays with ebblo’s Intermodal Transport Control Systems, which manage real-time vehicle monitoring and communication between vehicles and control centers. By combining hardware and software capabilities, the companies aim to provide transport operators with an integrated infrastructure capable of delivering accurate and accessible passenger information at bus and tram stops. The displays support real-time travel updates such as departures, delays and occupancy levels while also offering features including text-to-speech announcements, infotainment, integrated speakers and LTE or 5G connectivity. The collaboration also incorporates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, V2X communication and cloud-based platforms to support operational efficiency and interoperability. The integrated system is designed to address both current operational requirements and future developments in public transport, including electromobility and autonomous mobility. Through this partnership, Stadler and ebblo aim to deliver more reliable, accessible and passenger-friendly information systems for transport networks.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRAUNSCHWEIG / NEUHAUSEN AM RHEINFALL, 5-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Stadler Signalling has entered into a cooperation agreement with ebblo Western Europe, formerly known as Trapeze DACH, to combine their expertise in passenger information technology and mobility software. The collaboration focuses on integrating display hardware with operations control systems to deliver modern digital passenger information solutions for public transport networks. The partnership aims to improve the availability of real-time travel information for passengers, particularly at bus and tram stops.

Under the cooperation, the two companies will work together on the technical and system integration of Stadler’s display hardware with ebblo’s Intermodal Transport Control Systems (ITCS). These control systems are used by transport operators to monitor vehicle movements in real time and manage communication between vehicles and operational control centers. Since passenger information is a key component of such systems, the integration of display technology and operational software enables transport operators to provide accurate, up-to-date information to passengers through a unified infrastructure.

The cooperation, which is structured as a non-exclusive partnership, allows Stadler’s TFT-based passenger information displays to be connected directly to ebblo’s ITCS platforms. By combining the hardware and software capabilities of both companies, the resulting solution is designed to meet both current operational needs and future requirements for digital passenger information systems.

Stadler’s Passenger Information division, based in Braunschweig, Germany, develops and manufactures the MOFIS® Passenger Information Monitor (PIM), which is designed for continuous outdoor operation in demanding environmental conditions. The display technology uses Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) architecture, representing an advancement over conventional LCD screens. The monitors are widely used by transport operators to display passenger information as well as operator-generated content.

Meanwhile, ebblo focuses on developing connected mobility solutions that support public transport operators in managing increasingly complex networks. The company’s portfolio includes operations control systems, passenger information systems, onboard technologies and business intelligence tools. Its solutions incorporate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication and cloud-based architectures, which help improve operational efficiency and system interoperability through standardized digital interfaces.

By combining the capabilities of the two companies, transport operators will be able to deliver real-time passenger information such as departure times, delays and carriage occupancy levels through integrated display systems. This information supports travelers in planning their journeys more effectively and improves transparency regarding service disruptions or delays. In addition, better information about vehicle occupancy can help distribute passengers more evenly along platforms and boarding areas.

The integrated passenger information system also supports a wide range of additional features. These include text-to-speech functionality, on-demand audio announcements, built-in loudspeakers, infotainment services and connectivity via LTE and 5G networks. Such capabilities expand the potential use of the displays while also supporting accessibility requirements, including solutions designed for visually impaired passengers.

The collaboration is intended to deliver a future-ready passenger information infrastructure for public transport operators, particularly those operating bus and tram networks. The integrated approach also supports emerging mobility trends such as electromobility and autonomous transport, ensuring that the solution can evolve alongside future transport technologies.

Through this cooperation, Stadler Signalling and ebblo aim to support transport providers with integrated hardware and software solutions that improve operational efficiency while enhancing the passenger experience.

Albrecht Teich, Managing Director of Stadler Signalling Germany, noted that the partnership allows both companies to combine their strengths to develop passenger information solutions that support both operators and travelers.

Marcel Velten, Chief Executive Officer of ebblo Western Europe, added that the cooperation expands the company’s portfolio by integrating advanced passenger information displays with its operational management systems, enabling a more comprehensive offering for transport operators.
