Saint-Gobain helped rebuilt the tornado destroyed schools in Moravská Nová Ves, Czech Republic

(PRESS RELEASE) COURVEVOIE, France, 6-Sep-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Saint-Gobain (EPA: SGO), a French multinational producer of construction, high-performance, and other materials, has announced its donation and support for the schools in Moravská Nová Ves (Czech Republic), destroyed by a tornado in June 2022, to get rebuilt in time for the start of the new school year, making them both more energy-efficient and more comfortable.

In June 2022, a tornado ravaged Czech villages in the Břeclav and Hodonín regions: roofs blown off, beams torn away, interiors irreparably damaged. In the small town of Moravská Nová Ves, the two primary schools were no longer unable to use their classrooms for teaching.

Saint-Gobain donated building materials, logistical support and expertise to restore the school buildings. The reconstruction cost almost CZK24 million, or €1 million, and focused on on-site construction techniques for off-site manufactured components, such as plasterboard and plywood panels. This choice made it possible to carry out the work in record time and demonstrates the advantages of lightweight and sustainable construction.

The work included a complete overhaul of the façades, thermal insulation and also the acoustics, a particularly important aspect of a school building.

Thanks to the involvement and commitment of the donors, the pupils of Moravská Nová Ves were able to start their school year in September 2022 in energy-efficient buildings, and can now study in an environment that is conducive to concentration and learning.
