HENSOLDT Delivers Comprehensive Drone Pilot Training Programme for Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm

(IN BRIEF) HENSOLDT has successfully delivered a comprehensive drone pilot training programme for the Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm, equipping participants with both practical operational skills and regulatory knowledge. The training, conducted in Germany, included certification aligned with EASA, LBA, and German Armed Forces aviation standards, ensuring compliance with both civil and military requirements. Designed in collaboration with MN JHQ Ulm, the programme focused on preparing personnel for real-world tactical missions using commercially available drones. As drones continue to play a critical role in modern military operations, the initiative strengthens the operational readiness of the Bundeswehr and highlights HENSOLDT’s capability to provide end-to-end training solutions for defense applications.

(PRESS RELEASE) TAUFKIRCHEN, 24-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — HENSOLDT has successfully completed a comprehensive drone pilot training programme for the Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm (MN JHQ Ulm), reinforcing its capabilities as a full-service provider in military training and operational readiness.

Conducted in Taufkirchen, Germany, the programme combined practical drone operation skills with rigorous theoretical instruction, culminating in an aviation law examination aligned with both civil and military regulatory frameworks. Participants were trained in accordance with the standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA), and the German Armed Forces Aviation Authority (LufABw).

The training initiative, titled “Full training with aviation law examination for remote pilots in the civil category A2 and military regulations category II a,” was developed in close collaboration with MN JHQ Ulm. It was designed to provide participants with a broad and robust knowledge base, integrating technical proficiency with mission-specific operational skills.

By focusing on both practical and regulatory competencies, the programme ensured that participants were fully qualified and certified to operate commercially available drones within complex operational environments. Certification was granted under the authorization of both military and civilian aviation authorities, enabling trained personnel to perform their duties in compliance with applicable legal standards.

HENSOLDT emphasized a holistic training approach, equipping drone operators not only with piloting expertise but also with the ability to conduct tactical missions effectively within established frameworks. This dual focus supports the increasing reliance on unmanned aerial systems in modern defense operations.

The growing importance of drones in reconnaissance, communication, and operational engagement has made them an essential component of current and future military scenarios. By delivering this training programme, HENSOLDT contributes to strengthening the operational capabilities of the Bundeswehr, particularly in the context of national and allied defense.

The company’s integrated training model positions it as a “one-stop” provider, offering end-to-end solutions that combine technical expertise, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness for modern military applications.
