(PRESS RELEASE) GUYANCOURT, 24-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Egis has been selected to carry out a technical assessment of the powerhouse facility at the Belawan New Container Terminal (BNCT), located along the strategically vital Malacca Strait in Indonesia. The project is aimed at strengthening the structural resilience and operational performance of a key installation supporting one of the world’s busiest maritime trade corridors.

BNCT, operated by a consortium that includes DP World, Pelindo, and the Indonesia Investment Authority, plays a central role in facilitating cargo flows and maintaining supply chain connectivity across the region and beyond. Within this complex, the powerhouse building is essential to maintaining uninterrupted terminal operations and ensuring infrastructure reliability.

Under its new mandate, Egis will evaluate the current condition of the powerhouse structure and provide recommendations to support long-term sustainability and performance. The scope of work includes detailed geotechnical investigations to better understand subsurface conditions affecting the building, as well as the application of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques to assess material integrity without interrupting ongoing port activities.

The findings from these analyses will inform targeted improvement strategies designed to align with BNCT’s operational requirements while enhancing durability and efficiency. By combining engineering expertise with advanced diagnostic methods, Egis aims to deliver actionable insights that contribute to both immediate structural reliability and future resilience.

This latest appointment builds on Egis’ growing portfolio of infrastructure and port-related projects in Indonesia, further reinforcing its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The company’s multidisciplinary capabilities and adherence to international standards position it to support critical infrastructure developments that prioritize sustainability and operational excellence.

Through this engagement, Egis seeks to contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s maritime infrastructure, ensuring that the Belawan terminal continues to support global trade flows through the Malacca Strait while advancing sustainable practices in port operations.
