(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 24-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Telefónica reported a total tax contribution of €7.472 million for the 2025 financial year across the markets in which it operates, reinforcing its role as a major contributor to public finances and highlighting its continued focus on responsible tax practices.

The Group allocated €21.3 in taxes for every €100 of revenue generated during the year, reflecting the scale of its fiscal contribution and its economic footprint in multiple regions. This includes both taxes directly borne by the company and those collected on behalf of tax authorities.

Of the total amount, €2.360 million corresponded to taxes paid directly by Telefónica, while €5.112 million represented taxes collected from third parties and subsequently remitted to governments. These figures encompass a broad range of obligations, including corporate income tax, local and regional levies, and social security contributions.

Telefónica’s approach to taxation is outlined in its 2025 Tax Transparency Report, which aligns with the principles established by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The company’s tax policy is built on a framework of integrity, transparency, and regulatory compliance, forming a core element of its broader responsible business strategy.

Geographically, the company’s tax contributions were concentrated in its key operating markets. Spain accounted for €3.043 million, maintaining Telefónica’s position as a leading taxpayer in the country. In Brazil, the Group contributed €2.207 million through a combination of direct and indirect taxes, while its operations in Germany generated €1.224 million in tax payments.

Beyond its financial contributions, Telefónica continues to emphasize the role of tax transparency as a key component of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. The company views taxation as a critical mechanism for supporting public services, fostering economic growth, and contributing to social development in the communities where it operates.

Oversight of tax governance is managed at the Board of Directors level, ensuring robust internal controls, auditability, and clear communication with regulatory authorities. Telefónica has also demonstrated its commitment to transparency through voluntary initiatives, including participation in tax reporting programs submitted to Spanish authorities.

By maintaining a disciplined and transparent approach to taxation, Telefónica aims to support inclusive digital transformation while contributing to broader societal goals, including alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development framework.
