Saint-Gobain to build new plasterboard manufacturing line in Spain

(PRESS RELEASE) COURBEVOIE, 3-Mar-2021 — /EuropaWire/ — Saint-Gobain announces that it is investing €40 million to construct a new plasterboard manufacturing line in its Quinto plant near Zaragoza, Spain.

This €40 million investment will enable the company to expand its range of high value-added products and construction solutions. As the leader in gypsum and plasterboard in Spain, SaintGobain will thus be able to capture the growth of the Spanish market and its rapid shift towards more complex needs, particularly for lightweight construction systems.

This line will be operational in 2022. It will use the most recent technologies, permitting a significant reduction in environmental impacts and the integration of recycled raw materials. In addition, an ambitious Industry 4.0 program will be set up to entirely digitalize and automate the management of production, warehousing, transport and delivery, supporting Saint-Gobain Placo Spain in further improving its customer service.

This new production line will create 70 direct jobs and will be accompanied by a major training campaign in collaboration with the Government of Aragon, which has declared the project to be of “regional interest”.

Saint-Gobain has been present in Spain for almost 120 years and employs more than 5,000 people there. The Group has 31 local plants, serving the construction markets (glass, gypsum, plasterboard, mortars and construction chemicals, insulation) as well as industrial markets
(automotive glass and abrasives).
