New A2LA Accreditation Positions TÜV Rheinland Greater China as a Leading Certification Provider for MCS Renewable Energy Products

New A2LA Accreditation Positions TÜV Rheinland Greater China as a Leading Certification Provider for MCS Renewable Energy Products

(IN BRIEF) TÜV Rheinland Greater China has become the first organization in the region to earn ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation from A2LA covering multiple categories under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. This accreditation allows TÜV Rheinland to offer MCS certification services for renewable energy products such as PV modules, heat pumps, solar thermal systems, mounting structures, and customized BIPV products, supporting Chinese manufacturers seeking faster entry into the UK and international markets. As the first MCS-authorized certification body outside Europe, TÜV Rheinland’s recognition highlights its technical expertise in HVAC and renewable energy product testing. The new A2LA accreditation builds on its existing CNAS accreditation under MCS 005 and further enhances its ability to deliver “one test, multiple certifications,” enabling manufacturers to meet compliance requirements for markets across the UK, EU, and North America through a single testing process.

(PRESS RELEASE) GREATER CHINA, 14-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — TÜV Rheinland Greater China has reached a significant milestone by securing accreditation as a product certification body under ISO/IEC 17065 from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This achievement marks the first time an organization in the Greater China region has been accredited by A2LA to cover multiple categories within the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). With this new status, TÜV Rheinland can now deliver MCS certification services to local renewable energy manufacturers, helping them accelerate entry into the UK market and strengthen their global competitiveness and brand authority.

The scope of accreditation granted by A2LA includes several core renewable energy product categories such as solar thermal systems, photovoltaic modules and components, heat pumps, PV mounting and structural systems, and customized building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products. By meeting the requirements of the MCS certification system, these products can demonstrate compliance with rigorous quality, performance, and safety standards recognized in key international markets.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme, established in 2008, plays a central role in evaluating the reliability and safety of small-scale renewable energy technologies. In the UK, MCS certification remains a critical requirement, as it not only assures quality but also increases consumer trust and supports wider market adoption of renewable energy solutions.

TÜV Rheinland also stands out as the first MCS-approved certification body operating outside Europe. Its accreditation from A2LA for heat pump certification reflects the association’s confidence in the company’s technical capabilities and long-standing industry expertise in HVAC testing and certification. Beyond MCS, TÜV Rheinland continues to provide a comprehensive suite of certification pathways—including Keymark, SG Ready, BAFA, and ISDE—offering clients an integrated approach covering local testing, factory audits, and certification issuance.

In addition to the A2LA accreditation, TÜV Rheinland has held MCS 005 accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) since 2022. This latest recognition further strengthens the company’s “one test, multiple certifications” model for the photovoltaic and solar thermal sectors. Manufacturers can now streamline their compliance journey and obtain certifications recognized across the UK, EU, and North America through a single testing process—improving efficiency and accelerating their time to market.
