(PRESS RELEASE) BILBAO, 21-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Iberdrola is inviting residents of Bilbao and visitors to the city to join a free public celebration on 12 June as part of the company’s 125th anniversary programme, with a major music festival in Doña Casilda Park followed by the largest drone show ever staged in Spain.

The anniversary event will begin at 4.00 pm in Doña Casilda Park, where a full afternoon and evening of live music will bring together a varied line-up of well-known artists. The programme will feature Juanes, Antonio Orozco, Rigoberta Bandini and Süne, offering audiences a mix of musical styles with both national and international appeal.

Following the concerts, Bilbao will become the setting for a large-scale illuminated display centred around the Iberdrola Tower. At 11.00 pm, 1,500 drones will take to the sky to create choreographed formations and light figures visible from many parts of the city. The show, designed as a shared urban spectacle, will combine technology, music and visual effects in a tribute to innovation, sustainability and Iberdrola’s connection with the communities it serves.

The drone display will be powered entirely by renewable energy, underscoring the company’s focus on sustainable innovation while offering the public a distinctive experience as part of the anniversary celebrations. The event is intended to bring together people from Bilbao and beyond in a festive setting that reflects Iberdrola’s long-standing ties with the city.

The Bilbao celebration is part of Iberdrola’s wider 125th anniversary programme, organised under the slogan “125 light years”. The initiative includes activities aimed at employees, customers, shareholders and the general public, with cultural, technological, social and public-facing events planned across different locations.

The programme also includes major music events in other Spanish cities. On 27 June, Madrid will host an anniversary concert featuring Lenny Kravitz, Manuel Carrasco, Ana Mena and Álvaro de Luna. A further concert will take place in Valencia on 28 November, with performances by Estopa and Mafalda Cardenal.

Alongside the concerts, Iberdrola’s anniversary programme includes technology and art exhibitions, social initiatives and the illumination of landmark buildings and emblematic sites. Through these activities, the company is marking 125 years of history while highlighting its role in electrification, social development and long-term engagement with the communities in which it operates.
