Based in Hong Kong, Wong will advise corporate and institutional clients on sustainability initiatives as they transition to a low-carbon economy. With over 20 years of experience, including roles at Barclays, venture capital investing, and as the CFO of Green Monday, Wong brings a wealth of expertise to her new position. She will report to Vanessa Koo, Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, and will also have functional reporting to Brian Reilly and Marie Freier, Global Co-Heads of Sustainable and Impact Banking at Barclays. (PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG, China, 26-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Barclays (LON: BARC), a British multinational universal bank, is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Wong as the Head of Sustainable and Impact Banking, Asia Pacific, as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible banking. Ms. Wong, who will be based in Hong Kong, will play a pivotal role in advising corporate and institutional clients on seizing opportunities to align with their sustainability goals, particularly in the context of transitioning to a low-carbon economy. She will report regionally to Vanessa Koo, Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific.

With a career spanning over two decades, Ms. Wong brings a wealth of experience, the majority of which has been gained during her tenure at Barclays, both in Hong Kong and New York. Most recently, she served as a Venture Capital investor at VU Venture Partners and held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Green Monday, a prominent player in Asia’s emerging alternative protein industry. Prior to these roles, Ms. Wong spent 12 years at Barclays, culminating in her role as Head of Consumer & Retail, Asia Pacific ex-Japan for Investment Banking.

Ms. Wong’s appointment underscores Barclays’ dedication to sustainability and its recognition of the profound impact it has on today’s business landscape.
