The solution enables analysis across selected days, months or multiple years, with detailed hourly breakdowns that provide a clearer picture of how mobility changes over time.

Area Analytics builds on the data foundation of TomTom’s annual Traffic Index by giving users direct access to the underlying datasets in a more flexible and customizable format. While the Traffic Index offers standardized insights across more than 500 cities worldwide, Area Analytics allows users to move beyond city-level comparisons and focus on specific neighborhoods, corridors, regions or even entire countries. According to the company’s press release, this approach delivers more localized and actionable intelligence on congestion levels, travel speeds and free-flow traffic conditions.

The new platform is designed to support a wide spectrum of users. Area Analytics is powered by TomTom’s global traffic data ecosystem, which aggregates information from hundreds of sources and combines live and historical traffic data collected over multiple years. The platform currently covers 77 countries, with additional markets to be added over time.
