(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 10-Jul-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — STMicroelectronics N.V. (Euronext: STM, NYSE: STM, BIT: STM), the largest European semiconductor contract manufacturing and design company, is thrilled to announce its participation in electronica China 2023 (Booth 7.2B136) from July 11-13. Under the theme “ST creates technology for a sustainable world in a sustainable way,” ST will showcase its cutting-edge sustainable technologies and industry-leading solutions for Smart Mobility, Power & Energy, and Internet of Things & Connectivity.

Sustainability lies at the heart of ST’s values and is ingrained in the company’s DNA. At electronica China, ST will unveil its dedicated “Sustainability Technology Zone” for the first time in China. This zone will demonstrate how ST empowers customers to enhance sustainability and seize opportunities with innovative technologies.

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be an electric vehicle model incorporating multiple demos. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the greener, smarter, safer, and more connected driving enabled by ST’s groundbreaking technologies. Notably, ST will showcase the X-in-1 Powertrain Domain Controller, an innovative system that integrates five essential EV power system control components into a compact X-in-1 system. This integration reduces cost, improves reliability, and optimizes power density, ultimately advancing the electric vehicle industry. Additionally, ST will present its highly integrated 22kW OBC & DC/DC combo demo, which maximizes the potential of SiC/GaN benefits, ensuring efficient power conversion and superior levels of safety and security.

Alongside the EV demo, ST will showcase a charging pile equipped with its best-in-class AC and DC charging-pile systems, powered by disruptive SiC technology. This technology guarantees reliable performance and efficiency for electric vehicle (EV) charging, driving the transition to sustainable transportation.

Another notable demonstration of sustainability is the 30~50kW Photovoltaic (PV) inverter, which employs H-series IGBTs and H/G series SiC diodes in the booster section. This solution achieves exceptional efficiency and reduced component size, with additional ST innovative technologies such as HB/HB2/M series trench gate field-stop IGBTs and 1700V SiC MOSFETs or HV K5 MOSFETs enhancing stability and robustness in auxiliary power supplies.

At electronica China, ST will also showcase its Edge AI solutions, including a washing-machine solution running a machine-learning algorithm. This innovative system, powered by ST’s NanoEdge AI, field-oriented control (FOC) sensorless MCSDK (based on STM32G4), and motor control power technology (based on STGIPQ8C60T-HZ), accurately determines the weight of the load and optimizes energy efficiency, water consumption, and detergent usage, resulting in cost savings.

In addition to these exciting demonstrations, visitors to ST’s booth will have the opportunity to explore numerous innovative solutions addressing Smart Mobility, Power & Energy, and Internet of Things & Connectivity, enabling them to deepen their knowledge and explore the future of sustainable technologies.

Smart Mobility is a key focus area for ST, and the company will showcase a new Zonal Control Unit (ZCU) solution, designed for next-generation auto EE architectures. Based on ST’s comprehensive auto-grade products, the ZCU simplifies automotive systems and Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) update mechanisms, while optimizing power distribution. Furthermore, ST will demonstrate in-cabin monitoring using an automotive-grade, 5.1 Mpixel image sensor (VD1940) capable of global and rolling shutter modes, ensuring excellent image resolution and performance.

With over 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing products for factory automation and industrial applications, ST is well-positioned to shape the factories of tomorrow. At electronica China, visitors will witness an upgraded Smart Factory Automation System, leveraging ST’s extensive product portfolio. This system incorporates a range of solutions, including IO-Link transceivers, STM32 microcontrollers, and protection devices. Moreover, it features a sub-1GHz LoRa network radio based on STM32WL, facilitating the upload of actuator operating status and sensor data to a cloud server, while control commands are converted from the cloud server to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).

In the realm of Internet of Things & Connectivity, ST will introduce the world’s first mobile phone/tablet with a contactless extended display at electronica China. Enabled by the ST60 millimeter wave connector, users can effortlessly project the screen of their phone or tablet onto a display or TV, delivering a computer-like operating experience without the burden of carrying a heavy device. Additionally, ST will present SensorTile.box PRO, a versatile programmable wireless box development kit that enables the creation of any IoT application based on remote data gathering and evaluation.

To enrich the experience for attendees, ST’s presenters will deliver insightful presentations on the topics of “ZCU – Build In-vehicle Network” and “ST Edge AI – Leading a New Era of Embedded AI.”

STMicroelectronics looks forward to engaging with visitors at electronica China 2023 and showcasing its commitment to sustainability and pioneering technologies that drive a more sustainable world.
