Its CLT has been used in demanding projects ranging from Svalbard in Norway to the Nanyang Technological University Academic Building South in Singapore and the Atlassian headquarters in Sydney. The Ybbs mill, which opened in 1983, has grown into an important production site for engineered wood products and a key part of Stora Enso’s mass timber offering. Since CLT production began at the site in 2012, the mill has supplied prefabricated timber elements for a broad range of construction projects, supporting the increasing global demand for renewable, low-carbon building materials.

The achievement reflects more than a decade of CLT manufacturing at Ybbs, as well as long-standing cooperation with customers, construction partners and project teams across multiple markets. It also underlines the growing role of engineered timber in modern construction, particularly as developers, architects and builders look for materials that combine structural performance, design flexibility and lower environmental impact.

Across Western Europe, CLT from Ybbs has been supplied for projects in France, Belgium and the United Kingdom, where construction programmes often require a high degree of precision, coordination and efficiency. The mill’s prefabricated mass timber elements help support faster installation on site while reducing construction complexity.

The reach of the Ybbs mill also extends well beyond Europe. In Singapore, Stora Enso’s CLT was used for the Nanyang Technological University Academic Building South, one of Asia’s largest mass timber buildings. The project required close coordination across countries, disciplines and time zones, demonstrating the capability of the Ybbs mill to support complex international developments.

In Australia, CLT from Ybbs is being used in the Atlassian headquarters in Sydney, a landmark hybrid-timber project that combines ambitious architectural design with high technical and engineering requirements.
