(IN BRIEF) SGL Carbon’s Willich site has reached a major milestone, celebrating 30 years of prepreg production and innovation. Since its founding in 1995 as epo GmbH, the facility has grown from a small operation into a leading manufacturing center producing high-performance prepregs made from carbon, glass, aramid, and natural fibers. With over 100 employees and a strong reputation for technological expertise and customer collaboration, the Willich site continues to drive advances in lightweight materials for global industries. The 30th-anniversary celebration recognized the team’s dedication and ongoing contribution to SGL Carbon’s success and sustainability goals.

(PRESS RELEASE) WIESBADEN, 11-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SGL Carbon is celebrating three decades of pioneering excellence at its Willich site, where high-performance prepregs have been produced since 1995. Originally established as epo GmbH with a small team of 20, the site has evolved into one of SGL Carbon’s central prepreg manufacturing hubs, now employing over 100 people and operating four production lines. The Willich team produces advanced prepregs using carbon, glass, aramid, and natural fibers, serving key sectors such as aerospace, automotive, mechanical engineering, and medical technology.

The anniversary celebration, held on November 7, brought together customers and employees to honor the site’s achievements and continued growth. Since its integration into SGL Carbon in 2007, the Willich facility has expanded both in capacity and in scope, focusing on technological innovation and sustainable materials such as natural fiber prepregs. It is also a vital supplier to BSCCB, SGL’s joint venture producing carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Site manager Christian Fischermann expressed gratitude to employees and customers, highlighting their commitment and creativity: “It was a wonderful opportunity to pause and thank everyone who has helped shape the site’s development. With their outstanding performance, team spirit, and many ideas, our colleagues have made Willich a place where high-tech prepregs and a passion for modern materials come together.”
