(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 3-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Mutares SE & Co. KGaA has signed an agreement to acquire TREPEL Airport Equipment GmbH and MAFI-Transport Systeme GmbH from NDW Maschinenbau Holding GmbH, adding two established industrial equipment brands to its Infrastructure & Special Industries segment. The transaction covers the operating businesses of both companies and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.

TREPEL and MAFI bring together long-standing expertise in airport ground support equipment, cargo handling, port logistics, and heavy-duty industrial transport systems. TREPEL is known for its aviation-focused equipment portfolio, including aircraft tractors, cargo high loaders, and loader transporters used in airport ground handling operations. MAFI specializes in heavy-duty terminal tractors and transport systems serving ports, logistics hubs, and industrial customers.

Together, the businesses operate internationally across more than 115 countries and are supported by a network of more than 50 service partners. Their operational footprint includes an integrated production facility in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany, as well as a service location in Georgia, USA, giving the group a strong manufacturing and aftersales base across key markets.

The companies generate approximately EUR 150 million in revenues and employ around 410 people. Their customer base is diversified across aviation, logistics, port operations, and industrial transport markets, while the service business currently represents around 12% of total revenues. This provides a recurring income base and further potential for expansion in maintenance, support, and lifecycle services.

Mutares sees the acquisition as a platform for further growth in the global markets for ground support equipment, cargo handling systems, and specialized industrial transport solutions. Following an initial transformation program that included operational optimization and cost measures, the companies are positioned for additional profitability improvements and more sustainable long-term development.

Johannes Laumann, Chief Investment Officer of Mutares, said the transaction represents an attractive addition to the Infrastructure & Special Industries segment, combining two well-established brands with strong market positions and a broad international footprint. He emphasized the operational improvement potential of the business and its clear path toward profitable growth, adding that Mutares looks forward to working with the management team to strengthen performance and develop the companies into a leading platform in their markets.

The planned acquisition further supports Mutares’ strategy of investing in companies with established industrial positions, operational improvement potential, and opportunities for international growth. With TREPEL and MAFI, Mutares gains access to recognized brands serving critical infrastructure-related markets where demand is driven by aviation, logistics, port operations, and industrial transport needs.
